In thick paint applications, there are so many variables that influence how long it takes to dry. When it was applied, how thick was it? Approximately what temperature and humidity are you using? Did you add any media? It is best to wait a week before varnishing a thick application of paint. It takes a day for the paint to dry and a day for the paint to dry.
As far as I know, there isn't. The Liquitex iridescent additive is thin and luminous, but it becomes runnier as you add it. A little brightens the color, a lot creates a shimmery shine, but if you add more it becomes runnier.
It says the wet shade of your mixed color will dry to a darker shade as long as the liquid latex is water-based. Although I have never tried it, I googled it and it seems that liquid latex is fine as long as it is water-based.
