It was great to receive my HIMI Gouache paints today. This was my first time trying them and I was very excited! It was not my favorite part of the process, but after a few I got my long blade pliers and zipped through the rest!
I was amazed at the process. Every one of them is vibrant and rich in pigment! This is such a beautiful color scheme! It was pink when I got the package. In my opinion, there is no better gouache for the price, and it is very pigmented. The cups do not feel as fluid as more expensive brands, but the cups hold more than a basic tube and the colors make it really stand out. Likewise, I really like the brushes that come with the case (although these brushes will not keep their white colour forever).

Upon opening the box, I had a definite OH NO first impression. I received my paint set in a plastic bag that contained a clear chemical in which I think it was hydrogen peroxide because it left white patches on my hands (which were fine after I washed them) but I don't know what caused the white patches. My brush bristles released a thick white dust which I suppose was leftover from the machine trimming, but the white dust is something I have never encountered in my years of buying art supplies from Chinese suppliers. As far as the paint itself goes, it's fine. However, the texture and opacity are cheap and there is no deep saturation in the colors. These Himi paints do not seem to be as creamy nor opaque as Winsor and Newton designer gouache and Holbein artist gouache (which are not acrylic gouaches). There is a new texture to these paints that is a little less chalky/matte and is a little like kid's In terms of a paint set, this one would work for drawing and for casual gouache watercolorists. You get what you pay for in terms of the quality of the paints and brushes- that is, on the good end of meh and not a great deal. If you give this as a gift, it's definitely questionable.

As I saw so many people using these jelly gouache cups online, I decided to give it a try myself. I knew I would be able to make good use of this palette since gouache is my favorite medium to paint with. I thought the cups were cute, but I couldn't get over the practicality of a bunch of them. In order to preserve the moisture when they are stored, I sprayed them often with water while I worked, as the top layer of paint dried. In the end, I placed a waxed piece of paper between the cups and the lid to help maintain that moisture when they are packed was also horrendous to have to dip a dirty brush into different cups in order to get the exact mix It was more enjoyable to scoop out a small amount of paint from the cups onto a plastic mixing palette using a small palette knife. This made me feel less as though I was squandering the entire cup of paint. I can think of a few reasons why you should try these if you don't mind getting your hands messy. The use of this type of paint packaging is probably not a good choice if you like pure and clean colors. The set is perfect for someone just learning how to play the guitar, or for someone who is looking to get a lot for their money. This was just a fun set that I bought to try out because I thought it was a really good deal and the colors looked The general rating is pretty good, although there are a few things that Generally, my main complaint is that I think the paints all have very different opacities, and I found myself adding white to some of the colors to make it a bit I think it is better that all colors match, but it is definitely not the end of the world. I was not pleased with some of the colors because they were very strong and strongly scented. While most of the palette didn't smell too chemically or off, some of the darker colors did. Finally, I found that the paints did not spread as smoothly as some of the other gouache paints. Even when you add water, they are tacky or slightly plasticy. After they're dry, I think they look pretty similar to anything else, except that they're a little more challenging The cost of this palette is pretty reasonable, and you get a lot of paint for your money. However, I personally don't feel that it's the same as my higher quality gouache, but these are definitely fun for traveling and playing I think you'll be happy with it as long as you don't expect top tier quality!.
