Questions & Answers
Hi there. Thank you for posing such a crucial query. Oils and acrylics should not be used with Black Velvet. Because the hair is so fine, we frequently see it torn or damaged, and it fails to perform as expected. Silver Brush Grand Prix or Silver Brush Bristlon are the best options for oils. Bristlon has a liner that would fit the shape you're talking about.
A rigger brush is identical to a script liner brush. They simply go by different names depending on the manufacturer.
Yes, especially in the case of unstructured lines.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this brush. I planned on using it for calligraphy as well as finding details in watercolor paintings. The issue is that because the bristles are so soft, they bend and spread when doing calligraphy, resulting in uneven letters. It also does not appear to maintain a fine point. I'm not pleased with myself. For that, I suppose a brush with stiffer bristles would be preferable. It works well for fine lines in the creation of trees, flowers, and other objects, but it is not suitable for calligraphy. I just added a photo of the brush after about 15 minutes of use; the bristles have spread and it has lost its point. I'm going to try some of the other silver black velvet brushes in different sizes, but the script brush isn't working for me.
such as delicate lines I have the entire Kolinsky sable brush set, but only one rigger. I ordered this rigger along with the Silver 'pointed' mop brush because it piqued my interest. Even when fully loaded, this rigger holds a surprising amount of liquid, and the tip is so finely pointed that the delicate line it produces is almost unbelievable. I'm not a professional painter, so any brush that gives me more control, especially for fine detail work, is a welcome addition. Silvers will undoubtedly be my next rigging purchase. br>br>This rigger is fantastic.
I'd read and seen a lot of good things about the series, and since I still haven't found the perfect brush for my watercolor journey, I decided to spend the money and give it a shot. br>br>The issue was that I was apparently not paying attention because I ordered the script instead of the round, which I kept in case I needed it later. br>br>To be honest, I don't use scripts very often, if at all, and the few times I have, they have always failed miserably. I'm having trouble keeping it in its original shape because it dries poking the hairs out, if that makes sense. br>br>I'm holding off on ordering the brush I really wanted until next month.
I've used Winsor & Newton paints, which are extremely expensive. I had been using Newton Kolinsky sable brushes for years and was looking for a less expensive alternative that I could take outside of the studio with me. The Silver Brush 3000 series was recommended to me by a salesperson at my local art supply store. This is the sixth brush I've bought from that line, and I'm really enjoying it. For watercolor painting, I can't say enough about the Silver Brush 3000 series. Once you've tried one, you'll be hooked.
I used the Black Velvet Script Liner Size 4 Brush and it's incredible. Because of its mixed hair composition, this brush can hold a lot of water and is ideal for painting large areas in watercolor paintings.
I design Christmas cards in watercolor. This brush gave me the opportunity to try it out. For fine lines, it's fantastic. For such a small brush, it holds a surprising amount of water and paint. So far, I'm enjoying it.
I've been painting for a long time and have used a variety of brushes in my work; in fact, this brush was one of the supplies required for an art class in which I enrolled. I couldn't believe how versatile this brush is; I couldn't imagine life without it, and I'm planning to order more.
