It takes a few kinks for synthetic bristles to last long in painting. At first, the bristles twist the slightest bit, and then more and more kinks develop. It is possible that the brushes are primarily synthetic with a small assortment of animal hair (weasel hair) blended to keep spring in them. It is possible, however, that all synthetic brushes are springy. It should be noted that synthetic bristles do not last.
