Questions & Answers
Only oil painting can be done with this product.
I'm not aware of any, and liquid clear is usually covered in color anyway, so it wouldn't be noticeable. Bob Ross, I believe, would not have used or endorsed anything like that. I'd go ahead and do it without hesitation.
Bob Ross liquid clear is great for making the canvas slick and easy to work with when applying dry oils. Makes it so that the paint doesn't muck up.
You can use acrylic to make a background, let it dry, and then use it on top of it. Then, for a wet-on-wet effect, paint with oil paints; because it's an oil base, it won't reduce the pigment in acrylic paints. That's something I'd do with clear gesso. Like oil paint, it dries in a few hours.
Selected User Reviews For Bob Ross Liquid Clear 250ml
This product is ideal for darker scenes or if you're using the wet on wet oil painting technique and need color to stay true. Seascapes are one of my favorite things to do with it. It serves as a foundation for the waves and the beach, as well as liquid white for the sky.
I enjoy painting with this product because it produces a transparent oil paint with a pleasing appearance.
The paint can be thinned without changing the color, which is a great feature.
The liquid white is my favorite, but the liquid clear is a disaster! It splattered all over the canvas, causing havoc. The canvas was covered in bubbles as a result.
I'm brand new to the wet-suit world. I used the wet technique, but this product appears to be thicker than liquid white, so I believe it is sticky. Actually, I'm not sure if it's good or not.
This is required for wet on wet situations.
