Questions & Answers

Does it allow for use by someone standing without slumping who is of normal height?

The answer to your question is complex because there are so many variables at work. *br>The short answer is yes, standing at the easel makes it possible not to slump when working. Your own instincts are the only thing that can tell you how to work so imagine how you do this by considering what follows. *I measured the easel at its height of 74" (6' 2") when it's fully extended. That is the top of the clamp, though. You need about four inches to reach the bottom of the top clamp, where you would begin to make your canvas The top edge of the canvas isn't likely to require much detailed work, so the majority of your effort will be focused below the top edge of the canvas. As a rule of thumb, the top "margin" from your work will be, say, 6 inches from the focus. This will bring much of your detailed work around the 64" (5' 4") level. Approximately 5' 4" tall is the average American woman, and 5' 9 1/2" tall is the average American man. You will be looking down into the distance a few inches below your eye level. Thus, if you're an American woman of average height, you might be able to stand at the easel and not slump much while you work. You would probably have to look down somewhat if you were an American man of average height. Regardless of whether you slump when you look down, you may be looking down too much.

Is it possible to paint on a tabletop with this?

I cannot put it on a table because it is too big. The easel is on the floor. You can get in touch with me if you have any problems. The planet Mars

Could you tell me if this is a good easel for the money or if I should ?

Without a doubt, this is worth buying. I like it a lot. I strongly recommend this!

What's the state of this easel? Is it partially assembled?

It was partly assembled, based on what I understand.

The canvas will not stay sturdy if it is wide
4/5

I received it on time, and the box was in good condition. Despite the fact that there were no instructions, I was able to figure it out from looking at the pictures and reading the item description on Amazon. The canvas is 24"x 30" on the easel and with a slight push on one side or the other it will move from side to side. I have not painted on it yet to see if it will hold brushstrokes of that size correctly. . . . I would appreciate it if you could please let me know how to prevent the canvas from moving.

An Easel That Is Solid But Has A Few Flaws
4/5

A new tripod easel for my Mont Marte tripod came in the mail I always get a little nervous when I do this Opening up a package containing a huge purchase that almost has no reviews to go on and only a few pictures to go off is nerve-racking. Here is an in-depth review of this product that we hope will help you make an informed decision on buying it.

When you give this a closer look, it is instantly apparent that it is a plein air There is a natural comparison between it and the French box easel since it is portable. A French box easel is the best easel to look at if you are a painter since it provides you with nearly all the features of this easel plus a box for holding your paints. However, if you are primarily a painter who draws, this easel is the right one for you, as it eliminates the French box and saves you both When you do a bit of research, you can find many more plein air tripod easels like this one on the internet. the other easels will open and fold in a similar fashion to this one, but they will cost approximately half the price. Essentially, this easel is different from the other easels because was has the carrying handle and the tool tray. Keeping that in mind when you consider buying this easel, realize you're going to end up paying double as much for the added feature of a tray and a handle compared with another similar tripod easel. The addition of the tray was worth the cost for me as I would rather have my tools in front of me when I draw than having to rely on my art bin or a separate tray. In particular, I would need to keep my eyes open while working outside. The tool tray, by the way, measures a solid 1. 5 cubic feet. So you can fit lots of things on it, including charcoal, pencils, sharpening knives, chamois, erasers, and stumps, while still having room for more supplies. However, the default tray design isn't self-standing, and that's of course the only flaw of the design The folding mechanism of the easel is contained within this section. However, I was surprised to find that when placing the tray on the back of the folded easel, the tray slides into place neatly among the other parts and does not just sit on top of everything as if it had no business It was a very thoughtful move by the designer to include that idea, and the thoughtfulness of it will never be forgotten. Despite my expectations, the easel turned out to be a little longer than I expected. There are 36" of length on it. on the easel is positioned in a good spot because in its compact form, it helps the easel balance well. In other words, you get at least an intrinsic handle to carry the item. In addition to the Velcro strips mentioned above, there are two more ties that keep the easel folded. On the other hand, the Velcro strips are not attached to the easel, unlike the carrying handle. The easel opens up with the two separate panels. Once that's done, there is no place to put them when the easel is extended. In my opinion, the best way to keep them from falling off is just to wrap them around the carrying handle. When unfolding for the first time, the easel appears to be a bit complicated. Taking a look at it, you wouldn't think it would be complicated, but it's harder than trying to assemble a French box easel for the first time. The tripod design is not a difficult one to understand in principle. The various hand knobs need to be undone to release all of the parts. An adjustment is made by a hand lever on a screw, which is mounted on the mast. The basics are simple. Once all screws are loose, you extend all three legs and the mast. You swivel it out, and when everything is tightened back up, the basic setup is complete. While the theory is simple, in practice it can be overwhelming to try to get everything to balance correctly while making sure both front legs are at the correct length when joining the mast. In addition to the base clamps, this easel is also equipped with a handy mirror. There are two additional base clamps below the mast's base clamp that function independently from one another. This means your canvas or board can be attached to the mast with a clamp. These secondary base clamps can be used on a bigger board if you want to secure it. Besides holding the tool tray in place, these secondary base clamps are responsible for connecting the tool box carrier. While everything else is shifting, trying to get the tray to level easily is like trying to figure out how to solve a Rubik's cube by As soon as you complete one side, you make a mistake when you attempt to proceed to the next. This challenge is much more forgiving, however it is quite frustrating setting this up. Although I managed to set up the seemingly more complicated French box easel in a couple of minutes on my first attempt, it took me seven minutes to get it right on the first The setup of this easel could take a bit more learning effort than you might have thought. This easel stands a giant 74" when unfolded to its fullest. The top clamp is adjustable, allowing it to go all the way to the top of the mast. The top clamp on my easel seems to stick, and it doesn't slide very easily. Based on the size of the canvas, it appears that the largest canvas that will fit between the top clamp and the secondary base clamps will be about 43 inches. The number five. I found that having conviction when setting up the easel can be the key to getting it set up properly after I tried folding and unfolding it a few times. It is imperative that you extend the legs with the intention of doing so. For the legs to be extended so far, you must first decide how far to extend them, then tighten the screws. When you're done with adjusting one part, you'd better move on to another, so that you don't lose all the screws at once and have to figure out every piece That will just muck you up even more. Here are a few pros and cons of this article The following pros - - - It appears to be a durable material. Please note that. This is a light weight product. Please note that. Please note that. A standard easel of this size takes up less than half of Please note that. The legs must be correctly set if the balance is to be optimal. Please note that. It is easy to pick up an unfolded easel with one hand by the top of the mast, and move it around with confidence (whereas an unfolded French box easel may not be so conducive to mobility). Please note that. When working with watercolors, the mast can be swiveled to a horizontal position. A few cons The only cons I have with this easel are the height and width, and it's a big problem. It is not possible to secure your board inside the top clamp by using the groove. In addition to having grooves in both the top and bottom clamps, plein air easels are often made of wood. Originally, this groove was made for the French box easel to accommodate an extra space between the canvas surface and the easel so that you could flip the painting over and lock it between the clamps when you were done painting while still having space between the surface and the easel whenever you were done. To prevent smearing, dampen your painting and easel surface prior to applying it. The groove in the clamp not only protects your painting from smearing, but also holds your board securely
I have seen easels with this ability on every plein air easel I have seen. Since it's so ubiquitous, I thought it must be just standard and did not bother to look for it before purchasing. A knife I was interested in buying would have to have a handle for me to consider buying it. In this easel, however, you cannot use the locking mechanism of a groove to secure your board. Instead, you are dependent on friction against a smooth wooden block to hold it securely in place. In addition, since this is supposed to be a portable easel, I'm unsure what purpose the design of these clamps serves. As opposed to a studio easel where your canvas stays in place once you place it, it stays there for basically the whole duration of the painting. It's possible to change canvas or the orientation of your sketchboard when you have a portable easel, or to go from colored paper to Bristol board when you are in You probably want to be able to lock your board in place fast whenever you make a switch, so you can trust it's locked in. So far, I have tested the clamp on my easel with my sketchboard, and it did hold firmly. Even so, I was greatly disappointed to find that the aforementioned feature was Every other plein air easel has grooves or an overhang on the clamps, no matter what the artist works on. I have seen these clamps on every easel ever built by Mont Marte, according to my observations. It looks great, but it's not as good as this design The easel is the most versatile The latter does not apply. As long as you find that feature unnecessary, it won't present a problem for you, however I admit that if I knew of this missing feature when I purchased this easel, I wouldn't have purchased it. My new possession now belongs to me, so I'll have to make it work for me. The drawing easel is a nice portable drawing easel to have, but there are a few issues. In contrast to a French easel that would be bulky or heavy, this easel offers the essentials of a plein air easel for people who don't use it as a tool for painting outdoors. The design of this portable tripod easel differs from many of its similar competitors in that it features a tool tray and an integral However, the tool tray does not attach to the easel and must be unscrewed in order to attach or remove it. If you're outside, there is the potential to lose a hand knob while unscrewing the tray, as I've dropped the hand knob a few times already. Even though the easel folds very compactly, unfolding it can be a bit of a challenge. In general, if the shortcomings do not concern you, and you think the tray or handle are worth twice the price of other easels similar to it, then this is a solid easel to buy.

Today was the first time I used it
5/5

The easel I've chosen fits me just right and I must say I already like it. Having looked around at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Walmart, I found that their easels were very expensive and not nearly as sturdy as this one. The easel is upright but I had a problem keeping the canvas in place and keeping the easel in place. I learned to make sure all of the knobs were tight. It was easy to paint after I did that because I was able to do so without any Therefore, it is important to tighten the knobs tightly.

This review is from a customer
4/5

The design of the product is decent, and the typical wood was light and strong. My set arrived with damage, but I settled it with wood glue and it has worked just fine. As you can see in the first picture from my first comment, I was able to fix the damage there. So far I'm pleased with it, and I'm updating my first comment, as I've been using it for almost a year. Your enjoyment of it is also hoped for. I wish you all the best!.

This easel is fantastic! I would highly recommend it and the seller
5/5

My easel has been in constant use for over three months now and I This chair can be adjusted to fit my 6'4" (193 cm) frame since it can be adjusted up high. Since the easel is made from beautifully polished solid wood, it feels very sturdy and looks great. It wasn't until I polished the wood that I realized I was having a problem. As I tried to keep my easel from tilting on me when I was drawing, I overtightened the main lever nut that holds the three legs of the easel together and the drawing board support arm. When I overtightened the bolt I knew I was taking a chance, but sure enough the threads were stripped (or I think the bolt was stretched). In disavowal of the overtightening of the bolt, I sent a note to the seller explaining what had happened. Without complaining, they sent another lever nut and bolt combo I'd say that was pretty great customer service! Due to the fact that I like to have my board at an angle rather than the typical flat angle, I knew that I would have many problems getting the bolt tight enough to hold the board in place, especially since the wood is highly polished. The solution I came up with is great, and I'd like to share it with you. The next day, I went to Home Depot and picked up four rubber washers from the fastener bins (the large gray cabinets with drawers right in the middle of the We were able to achieve amazing results with these washers. The lever nut has to be tightened very little, which is amazing considering everything held together so well. You can see what I did by looking at the image I've included. You could gain a few more inches in height by spreading the legs out further, and not tilting the drawing board as much as I do, but things the way I like them, the top of the drawing board is about 66 inches (167 cm) in height I have included a photo of me drawing at the easel, so that you get a better idea of the dimensions when you visualize them in relation to a 6-foot-4 (193 cm) guy.

This chair is not sturdy enough for bold abstract artists, but Mont Marte might be able to help
3/5

The canvas is well made, but is not sturdy enough for abstract artists using broad strokes on a 24 x 36 Wooden ones with a minimum weight of $100+ are the best for broad strokes with 3 - 9 inches of width We recommend a brush with a diameter of 4". It is better to have a larger horizontal piece at the top. The following are Mont Marte's words I would like to suggest a wider horizontal top piece and a rubber strip on it Holds the canvas with a narrow edge It might help while painting in the wind as well if the artist wants more support. It would be better if you offered the cheaper option at the time of initially purchasing an easel.
