There are three kids in my family, two of whom are in school. Due to normal wear and tear on the hand-sharpener, the leads are easily broken by uneven torque around the center of the pencil. In no less than three attempts, I broke the leads of my colored pencils with different manual razor blade pencil sharpeners. My first thought was that the color pencil brand had nothing to do with the problem, so I tried two different brands and still got the same results. gave me the reason to begin researching and I concluded it was a soft pencil sharpener because colored pencils have a softer tip than regular pencils. I selected this pencil sharpener after taking the time to thoroughly research it and relooking at many reviews on how it sharpens colored pencils perfectly and stays sharp without breaking their lead. Since I started doing this a few weeks ago, I have sharpened about 60 colored pencils without any lead broken. You do not have to worry about oversharpening since the pencil will stop sharpening once it has reached the desired point. It may appear that it is still sharpening since it is still running the motor after it has sharpened the pencil but it has a mechanical stop that prevents it from keeping sharp. The difference between a sharp pencil and a dull one becomes apparent almost immediately.

Using something that is reliable and easy to use is important to me as a professional artist. That product did not work for long after it started. This one initially worked beautifully, but then quickly stopped working. During the time I had it, it was not damaged, it wasn't even moved from its place on my desk, and yet it still stopped working. It would be wise to save your money as an artist and instead shop at another store.

Because I thought this item would do X, I bought it In my experience, Act was a good brand. I did not use it immediately. Opening it after the return date, it was past its return date. My expectation was that it would work when I plugged it in. There was no action taken. tested it in four different plugs that had other items plugged into them that worked. There was no action taken. Trying it earlier was my fault, and I ought to have done so Now that it's in the trash, it's best to get rid of it. This is not worth the money you would spend on it.

The shavings catcher should engage a switch once it is in place since it has an internal switch. For safety, it is not possible to operate it when the catcher is off. It would be fantastic if they didn't build the unit in this way so they could make videos about the pencil sharpener challenge. We have to disregard the small plastic structure just inside the catcher openings because it is not in specification. The switch does not become active when the switch is pressed. A pin and some hot glue allowed me to modify it a bit (to give it a little more height). Although it now works fine, I can only award this machine 3. 5 stars for its poor quality control.
