Questions & Answers

To those of you who have used both, how do these compare to Derwent inktense blocks?

DIBs (Derwent Intense Blocks) are "ink blocks," as the name implies. The DIBs are frequently used for the first coat (underpainting with water or alcohol) in the same way that a pastel block (Prismacolor or other hard or soft pastels) or a watercolor underpainting are used by pastel artists. The DIBs are bright and cover well, with "no" dust, unlike many pastels. With my pastel paintings, I enjoy using either medium.

Are these dry enough to scrape or sand into a powder and apply to weather plastic models with a brush?

The creamy pigments in the Premier NuPastel Color Sticks make blending and shading a breeze. For different effects, you can use these wet or dry. The results of scraping or sanding cannot be guaranteed because they have not been tested for this purpose.

Is it possible to use these on fabric, both wet and dry?

Premier NuPastel is a paste that can be used wet or dry. However, it is impossible to guarantee the quality of the fabric. These look great on Bristol Vellum Paper.

Is this a chalk pastel or an oil pastel?

These aren't oil pastels by any stretch of the imagination. They've been scribbled on. semi-based, based pastels with a hard texture

The color scheme is fantastic
4/5

The color palette is appealing, and the pastels blend well, but two pastels were missing from the set. Overall, this is an excellent product that is well worth the investment.

have a more consistent color palette with strong hues I'd been using sennelier for years due to their saturation, but after trying these, I was sold
5/5

These are SO MUCH EASIER TO CONTROL, and the colors are much more consistent and vibrant. Although not as good as a Sennelier, the color is applied correctly. The crayons do not crumble, and I have yet to come across a color that is glazed and difficult to apply. I now use these for all of my portraits. A fantastic item!.

My father expressed an interest in resuming his artistic pursuits, and while he usually dislikes what I buy him, he enjoys this
5/5

A few days ago he asked me when he brought it over. You know, living far away and not so close to one another where we have to wear masks and stuff around each other, to be able to communicate, which really does not make much sense to me.

Monoprints are a breeze
5/5

I'm not a professional artist, so I'm not sure how useful these are for professionals, but they're perfect for me. I mostly use them to make mono-print screen prints, and they go well with the clear base extender. The colors are vibrant, and they can be used to create either precise lines or large swaths of color. The 48 count has a good variety of colors. They're effective. I use other mediums in my monoprints to complement them. I had a fortunate situation. When my pastels arrived, none of them were broken. My only gripe is that one of the reds (I can't remember whether it's pale vermillion or crimson red) isn't as smooth as the others and can be difficult to color. However, because I don't use a lot of red, this isn't a big deal for me because the rest of them work fine, and I'm happy with the price.

Colors are well-balanced, and the pigment is excellent
5/5

I recently purchased these because I wanted a large variety of colors and was tired of the 30 mix and match colored pencils that gave me little artistic freedom, as well as the brand variety, which gave me little consistency. I've used Primacolor before and decided to buy this 150-piece set after reading the reviews. I haven't been let down. The pigment is dense and applies easily. When it comes to pressure sensitivity, they are simple to work with. If you know what you're doing, they can also blend well. Some people expressed dissatisfaction with the sharpening, and one review I read suggested the "pro art" sharpener. I also purchased this, and it performed admirably. When you want to make fine lines, the sharpener doesn't take much away and leaves a nice tip.

The art supplies from Prismacolor are quite good
5/5

Only a few pieces were broken when they were delivered, but that's not a big deal to me because I know how easily these things break (hint: they're made of glass). They're still usable (as long as you don't drop them). It's my first time using these pastels for my figure drawing class, and while it's a bit of work and certainly not a medium for everyone, the colors are vibrant, and you can definitely do skin colors with the large variety of colors provided in this set. Because I'm not an expert with these, my project turned out in bright colors. I'm not sure if you can layer the colors to make them more muted, but I'm pleased with the results overall. The price is reasonable for good art supplies, but it is still excessive. I was fortunate in that I was able to get these for a low price by purchasing them on sale and using reward points. If you're going to pay full price for these, make sure this is the medium you want to work with. I would recommend the smaller pastel set, but it won't work for skin tones and the colors are all quite bright. This one has a wider range of colors, allowing darker and more muted tones to shine through. Overall, prisma color produces decent art supplies, so purchasing this brand isn't a bad idea, though I suppose every artist has their own preferences.

minus one for greatness When I finally opened my package, I was ecstatic to see that my 265-pound package had arrived intact
3/5

P was missing from the palette. I anticipate receiving what I have paid for. It's a 48 ct. diamond, not a 47 ct. diamond Aside from that, shipping was quick, and the product arrived undamaged (with the exception of one pastel broken). Colors that are beautiful. Prismacolor products have always been a favorite of mine, but the poor distribution of this package has left me disappointed.

The colors are fantastic
5/5

Prismacolor is a brand I remember enjoying, so I just wanted some pastels to play around with and get back into some drawing/color experimenting. These are the ideal weight and consistency, with a wide range of colors to choose from. They blend well and can be easily varied in coverage by applying different pressure.
