Yes, colored pencils can be used, but gamisol solvent (a small amount) should be added at the end to ensure a good result. Cher Kaufman has a fantastic YouTube video that explains how to use these in a clear and concise manner. She does a great job of demonstrating how to use it. Other free videos are available, but I prefer this one because she uses these to blend with Vaseline.
It's a pencil extender that you can use when your pencils become too short to comfortably handle.
Blending with the sponge is an option.

I recently received the 33-piece set and am looking forward to putting it to good use. But I wanted to take a moment to let anyone interested in purchasing these know that you will also receive a pleasant surprise, as I noticed other people mention a bag that comes with it. However, there is no mention of one in the article. I took a photo of the light-weight pencil case that comes with this set. It's the perfect size for everything. It's a minor detail, but the fact that the manufacturer fails to mention it says a lot about them. My purchase has made me extremely happy.
Resurrection. I'm completely dissatisfied. I didn't get all of the pieces, and some of the ones I did get were damaged. UPDATED! br>br> br>br>Not long after I posted my original review, I received a message. The customer service was outstanding. They immediately dispatched a replacement. I got them, and I'm very pleased with them. Even a bag was included with the new set. All of the components were present and had never been used before. I'm in a wonderful mood. I am confident that I will make another purchase.
I'm content with myself. I'm not a snob when it comes to stumps (yet?). br>These are not an issue for me. As I use them, I discover that the points are firm. Other brands I've tried have a hollower (softer?) feel to them. ) and either collapse under light pressure or flop over, resulting in a useless tip. br>These blend exactly how I want them to, and they shade nicely for me. There are no issues that I have. br>Additional sanding blocks are always appreciated! br>Do you have a pencil extender? Yes, those are my favorites as well. br>Erasers can be extremely useful. br>Can you tell me about the blue blending sponge? I haven't had the opportunity to put it to the test yet. There haven't been any complaints as of yet. br>
Ok. stumps that are extremely large I'm not sure I'll ever use those; they're enormous.
Thanks to your package, I'll be able to get a lot of them with only a few extra accessories. Now I can include one blending stick in my ART CAMP IN A BOX so that my online students have everything they need to master shading!.
For the money, this is a fantastic purchase. For smaller areas, the variety of stumps and tortillas is ideal, but nothing beats a good old Kleenex for larger areas. I would purchase this item again.
I like how everything is so compact that you can fit so many pieces into such a small storage space.
I've recently resumed sketching and drawing, as well as other forms of art. This was my first time using blending sticks, so it was a learning experience for me. I received a single stick in one of the other kits I recently purchased and was blown away by how well it worked with my pencils. I looked into purchasing a kit like this right away, and for the price - it was a no-brainer. I dove in head first. It appeals to me. It's a great way to spice up my drawings. This kit includes a variety of useful items to help you complete your collection - especially if you're new to the game like me and don't have a lot of these items.
When you're dealing with short stumps of rolled up paper, 33 pieces may appear to be a lot, but it's not. The eraser is fine; however, I have yet to use the blending sponge. A bit of a letdown.
