Questions & Answers

Is it true that the jaws are flush when they close?

Yes, the jaws close flush and have rubberized edges to ensure a good grip on the canvas.

What is the best size canvas to use for this project?

This technique can be used on any canvas size. They're quite wide, so even on a very large canvas, they won't rip your fabric.

They should work with any type of fabric.

What are your plans for putting these to use?

I'd look on YouTube because there are some excellent videos showing how to do this correctly. That's how I came to know what I know now. For the price, this is a fantastic tool! I've seen smaller versions for nearly double the price at my local art supply store, so it worked well for a good price
5/5

I'm taking a painting class, and I needed my own stretcher pliers so I could construct my canvases at home rather than in the studio. These were the ideal choice! They made things a lot easier for us. Although the handles aren't particularly comfortable, they feel nice and sturdy in my hands, and if you're looking for a pair of stretcher pliers, I'd recommend these!.

The size is almost excessive
3/5

These were purchased for the purpose of stretching paint. On the bars, write the numbers on the canvas. Because the canvas was too small for a true gallery stretch (not due to these pliers), I ended up stretching it with my hands. If you're stretching a 16" x 20" canvas, pliers with smaller jaws will probably come in handy. However, anything larger would almost certainly require these pliers, especially if you have at least three inches of extra canvas margins. I'm going to save them for later.

It was simple to use for this newbie
5/5

I bought a painting in a roll from China that was 48" by 48" in size. I made a frame and used this to hold it in place while I stapled it on. You watched a video on YouTube to learn how to do it, and the gizmo worked perfectly. It worked the first time. The canvas isn't ripped because there aren't any teeth to rip it. Despite the fact that I didn't have to pull very hard, the canvas appears to be flat. I'm glad I bought these non-teeth pliers in the first place. The spring was no problem for me, and I gripped this large canvas several times.

Clamp is sturdy and has a good grip
4/5

For me, this canvas stretcher clamp is ideal. The design is straightforward and durable, ensuring a long service life. a long-term tool The only minor annoyance is that the red handle covers can slip when pulling, but this isn't a problem when using the canvas. The spring that returns the handle to its open position is also removable, which I assume is for easier storage.

Pot metal from China that is average
3/5

Although the seller claims that the product is made in Taiwan, the packaging indicates that it was made in China. Typical pot metal from China. If you get a good one, it will work fine, but if there are any flaws in the cheap metal, it will most likely break. I wouldn't put a lot of pressure on it because it would most likely snap.

This is an excellent resource
4/5

It's a great tool, but be careful not to pull too hard on your canvas (which is easy to do) or it will tear.
