Sorry, but I'm unfamiliar with the term "gesso." I'm a complete novice when it comes to painting. These were also returned due to their insufficient size.
The canvas has a 3/8-inch depth.

These are cute little canvases, but if you want to use them for oil painting, you'll need to reseal/size them with PVC glue and re-attach them to the frame. gesso. Oils will undoubtedly soak through the canvas because it is not water sealed. When you consider the cost per canvas and the additional work required, oil painting isn't really worth it. Pre-existing conditions I discovered Masonite, cut to the same size and unsealed, for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ It's $30 less per board, and it's a rigid surface as well. If you aren't concerned about the quality of the stretcher bars, another option is to remove the canvas and mount your own primed canvas. br>br>If you're going to use acrylics, these will suffice. Because the canvases are small, you won't have to be concerned about your paint drying too quickly. br>br>Overall, the canvas has a loose weave, the stretcher bars aren't beveled on the face, and it isn't stretched taut. Essentially, they're canvases with a high monetary value. They're adorable and suitable for acrylics that don't require much effort. If you wanted to use them for oils, you'd have to be very picky.
I didn't know what they were made of or how long they'd last when I bought them. I was pleased to discover that they are of good quality! I'll definitely buy these again because they're made of regular canvas material and are reasonably sturdy for the price.
I say "ok" because the majority of the canvases were satisfactory - However, there are a few flaws in about five of them. They'd be useless as is, but I'm good at salvaging things like this. It's not uncommon for tiny canvas to be off in some way, which is one of the benefits of having them shipped rather than handpicking at an art store. That being said, I pity the people who are responsible for putting these things together. Thank you very much. Overall, I'd probably buy them again because the price vs. what I get for them is very good, and it saves me a trip to the store. br> Just don't expect them to be perfect or without some tightening work, and be aware that some of them may be useless.
I've never painted on canvas before, so I can't compare the quality to anything else; however, they're ideal for me because I have limited arm movement due to muscular dystrophy, and I can easily reach the entire painting without having to change positions.
This is an excellent product for learning because it is both inexpensive and well-made. However, I would recommend gessoing the surface so that the oil paint soaks in, but this is not necessary for acrylic. It appears to be gessoed, but it is very thin, so a couple more coats would make it a lot easier to work with and more durable. Aside from that, it's ideal for my needs.
These were the perfect size for my 5 month old and I purchased them to make cute hand/footprint pictures for friends and family. These are of excellent quality and a good price.
These are my new favorite sizes, which I do not recommend for beginners. Because I usually paint small, these are ideal for me.
These are just too adorable to pass up! In addition to my 16x20 canvas, I've included a photo of a mini canvas.
