Gessobords has been used many times for me As for the product itself, I don't have any issue with it. Although the package arrived in a shabby condition, it cannot be accepted. Damage has been done to three of the four corners. So now that I have gotten rid of the plastic tube and the shipping box, I guess I am stuck with them. I will never repeat that mistake.
This is a wonderful art board.
The feeling is not good. It would have been smoother if it was.
As a result, I am able to complete my work quickly and with excellent results.
At a great price, this substrate is great for oil paintings.
In the past, I've had an 18 x 24 inch painting. I have had a Gessobord in my studio for ages, bought on a whim from the art store for a landscape in oil I never got to, but recently was given a commission to produce an 18 x 24 oil under a very tight deadline. My bad, I completely forgot that I had the panel, but when the expensive linen arrived, I realized that I had one When I remembered that the gatorboard I had hurriedly ordered had been delayed for quite some time, however, I recalled having (hopefully) the same-size sheet of plastic when I had placed my order. Probably in the studio is a large Gessobord panel. As it was, I decided to go ahead and use it for the commission instead. I love it!
In a nutshell, I love it! The surface of the Masonite is painted evenly and 1/8" thick. There should be no too much gloss (slickness) or too much roughness. There is almost a vellum-like finish to it. It worked well with oils and was just right. Although my intention is to use them again, they might not be appropriate for anything larger than 36" due to the thin 1/8" Except for that, I'd like to add the following.
