No, it doesn't work that way. The pencils are only there to show how much the bag can hold. There are no art supplies in the bag when you buy it. Mine is used to store colored Sharpie pens with a fine tip. It's a high-quality bag that can accommodate a variety of items in addition to colored pencils. The storage is fantastic.

This is one of my most recent Amazon purchases! This pen case is one of my favorites. If you have a variety of pens and pencils, it's even better. I just received this pen case today, and I spent about an hour organizing all of my pens into it! br>br>It has a great set of zippers as well as a carrying strap. It feels sturdy, and there are inserts to keep it from flapping around! br>br>The only issue I had with the Frixion pens was that they have a gel grip. The gel pens were extremely comfortable to use and didn't mind being squeezed a little tighter. The highlighters, on the other hand, were a completely different story. To make them all fit, I had to skip a slot every five. But it doesn't bother me because I still have a lot of empty slots to fill with more pens! 124 pencils or thin pens (Stabilo, Le Pen, or Staedtler) will fit in this case. Muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha A small ruler, an eraser, and a small pencil sharpener are also included. There are 65 gel pens, 14 highlighters, 5 Sharpie markers, 3 Frixion pens, 5 Le Pens, 2 Stabilos, and a multi-tool in it right now. I was anticipating a cheapie for the price, but I was pleasantly surprised. It houses my 72 Prisma Colora markers, as well as erasers, spares, blending stumps, and other miscellaneous supplies. There's a lot of room and the zippers are well-padded. It does not take up a lot of space. In comparison to my roll-up one, this one fits comfortably on my lap. This is a fantastic situation to be in. IF you were only going to use colored pencils with it. In addition, I use a number of different markers. Microns couldn't all fit through the elastic slots because they were too small. Every five minutes, I had to skip a slot. There are six markers in total. Sharpies needed to be alternated because they didn't fit well next to each other, and I had to pry the slot open with a pencil to get the marker to slide in. And what about Tombows? It was nearly impossible to get them to fit because they had to be used in the same way as Sharpies. With Tombows, I was only able to use one side, so I didn't get the most out of the product (see photos). With the larger markers, I'm hoping that the elastic will stretch a little. I couldn't even get the markers out, let alone put them back in place, when I went to use them. I'll have to go back and look for something better suited to my needs.
Both the green (which I consider to be teal) and the pink are in my possession. One holds my 72 prized prismacolor artist pencils, as well as 25 extra fun metallic pencils, and the other, BEAUTIFULLY, holds 120 fineliner markers! They are fantastic! The zippers and seams are well-sewn, and the case is the perfect size: large enough to hold a large number of pencils while still being small enough to fit into a backpack. The elastic bands have never caused me any problems. Even my fineliners, which are slightly larger than pencils, come in handy. To me. It's an ideal situation. I also like the wrist strap because it makes it easier to carry and frees up my hands to carry my art pads. Because my tools don't fit the special elastics, I used the most end page to hold erasers, sharpeners, and "tools. I bought one of these to store my excess Prismacolor pencils (over 120), Prismacolor Very Thins, a 20-piece Staedtler set, and my small collection of Tombow Irojiten colored pencils, as well as a few other odds and ends. I adore this pencil case so much that I ordered a second one to store my entire collection of Faber Castell Polychromos. I used to use the trays that came with the Polychromos set for the Polychromos, but they never stayed put. Reading the pencil number and/or color name is important to me. Everything is now neat and tidy, and I can see the colors and numbers on all of my pencils. No more emptying pencil cups or digging through drawers to find pencils; it's now much easier and more convenient.
This is a fantastic item for keeping colored pencils and slimmer pens organized. I have a lot of large colored pencils, pencil crayons, and different sized ink pens, but they either don't fit or I have to force them into the tight slots; I have so many colored pencils that I filled two of these zip bags with them, and I love that they are all contained rather than scattered around in loose containers. I also didn't have a small sharpener or eraser that would fit in the larger slots designed for them, so I just filled the slots with more pencils.
