They won't even cut cotton fabric into masks for me. I'm not sure if I got a lemon or something else. They have a pleasant feel to them when you hold them in your hands. I'll try to sharpen my pencils because I don't want to return and go to a mailing facility while the virus is still active. That's why I had them delivered instead of going to the store to buy a pair. Most things on Amazon are a hit, but this is the first time I've been disappointed.
These are not something I would recommend. The shears don't cut smoothly, and I noticed some resistance when cutting through fabric right away. Also sticky are the rubber handles.
This pair of fabric scissors is a good place to start if you're new to the craft. It's a pleasure to hold them. Their sharpness is slightly above average, but not quite as good as professional fabric scissors.
The design and ease of use of these shears are excellent for the price, but the blades are extremely rough, causing them to snag on a variety of fabrics. I bought them to make masks for my local hospital and was mostly cutting 100% cotton and it was frustrating to have to readjust the shears due to constant snagging and it I would have returned them if I had had the opportunity, but I was unable to do so due to a lack of.
I can't speak for how long these shears will last, but I love them. They slashed through anything like butter. Granted, they're brand new, but they went through an entire jersey cotton shirt in one swipe (that wasn't even pulled tight). By the time I'm done with it with my old singers, it usually looks like a gator tore it up. Love it.
They're quite large scissors, aren't they? Either that, or my hands are extremely small. Cutting fabric with these, on the other hand, became difficult; it seemed as if they tightened with each cut. Trying to open and close them made my wrists hurt! In terms of sharpness, they're about average, but they catch occasionally, causing uneven cutting. They weren't spectacular, but they completed the task at hand. I simply do not believe they are the scissors for me.
Over the years, I've had a number of fabric scissors, some of which were quite expensive. These are excellent and reasonably priced. I cut regular cotton and fleece with them, and they glided right through the fabric. I had forgotten how great a pair of scissors can be. Now all I have to do is keep my kids from using them for anything other than paper!.
