Questions & Answers

Do you think this can be used for clothing that will be ?

It's only a temporary problem, I've found. My favorite way of using this adhesive is to temporarily attach leather and vinyl, but I also use it on cork and fabric. After the seam is sewn or riveted, you need to complete the process. The materials will not shift when sewing together when it's in place.

The double-faced basting tape is suitable for use with what types of fabrics?

Basically whatever you can imagine, you can use this on - polyester, cotton, canvas, denim, leather, Lycra and many other materials.

In the future, will the glue become yellow or recognizable, or will it remain clear?

The transparent rod remains nearly undetectable and is thin enough that when it's left positioned, it's not even

The way I described it
5/5

If you are having difficulties sewing, this basting tape can help. My sewing machine used this tape for a cushion cover for the University of Washington, and I used only two pins instead of the usual arsenal of pins! The little pins I used, along with the fact that all layers held together, cut sewing time in half. Sometimes I noticed my sewing machine needle was stuck, so I used an alcohol gauze wipe to remove it from the machine needle - this helped to make sewing easier. I found that I had to stitch continuously through an alcohol gauze strip for the thread not to keep breaking as I stitched one area. Having said that, I am an occasional sewer, so maybe someone else has found an easier solution to this problem. I did have long seams, as well as sew rather rapidly, so maybe that contributed to the "gumming. ".

Zippers and other items like that can be sewn on it
5/5

It is easier to sew zippers in place with this tape. If you use pins, the seam can pucker, and you have to pull them out before sewing over them. It is easier to get a smooth and even seam without pins. As far as I know, this tape can be used for other things, but this is all I've done with it.

The upholstery work becomes less frustrating with this tool
5/5

Perfect for my needs. While taking a little more time than pinning, it is so much better. It is also easier and quicker to use since you will not have to rip out seams and redo because the fabric moved. The fabric is a heavier outdoor fabric (so it'll be heavier) with stripes, and you need to match the stripes where all three meet. You'll attach cording between the stripes. There were no frustrations during the assembly of the cushions. It doesn't interfere with the needle for a 1/2 inch seam because the 3/8 is so thin.

Quite a lot of tape for a reasonable price
5/5

I use this tape mostly to sew bags using leather, cork and vinyl. Zippers and bastes are also available. at a decent price. I do my best not to sew over the tape as I do not have an industrial sewing machine, but I do have a domestic machine that could gum up a needle with the tape. Using glue and clips is quicker and less messy.

French seams were easy to do with this tool
5/5

The vinyl seat cover I made used this method for French seams. This work both well for holding down reinforcement ribbons and for holding down seam areas that were difficult to sew. had very little trouble with the adhesive gumming up my needle, but I did have to rinse it several times with rubbing alcohol. There is only one complaint I have, and that is that I taped everything up on a seam but did not continue to stitch it. Next morning, I came back to it and it had all loosened up and needed to be stuck down once more. The tape was still sticky and held again with a little pressure, so it was not a big deal.

I could not get it to work
3/5

Unlike other basting tapes that I have used, this one has a smooth, even finish. This tape is definitely sticky on one side, but the clear film didn't come away from the backing paper so I was unable to view the other side. Therefore, it counts as a one Tape has only one side and is not useful for basting. This is of no use to.

I love this
5/5

My method of aligning pieces before sewing has always been to pin them first. Making things simple is what this stuff does. Even on tough materials, it holds up well. I used it around curves on Sunbrella with no problems.

The product did not live up to expectations
3/5

Despite the fact that it was 50 yards, I ordered this 3/8 inch basting tape. I used more than 8 yards of cardboard before it ran out and was left with a roll too thick for me to handle. Although I suspect that there was a quality control error, what bothers me is that I have not been able to reach Amazon to resolve this matter. There seems to be no other way to contact them except to pick from a list that says nothing about the item not being as.
