As far as fabric goes, I think they would work well. When I solder they are used, however. It takes multiple heatings to heat up the pins. A while goes by before they break down, but that is to be Considering the way they are used traditionally, I am sure they would last for a long time.
In principle, I have not yet seen any rust on mine after using it to block some crocheted items. As I recall, when I bought them they said they were stainless steel, since that doesn't rust.
They would work well as the little heads are easy to grasp and hold. I do not currently use them for sewing, but you could use them. It sounds great and I'd definitely like to try it!

It was hard to believe there were 200 pins in each box, but I counted and there were 200 pins in each While only two bent pins were found, since I was a big girl I took much more interest in the money I saved buying 400 for $6 instead of the overpriced 40 for $6 at the craft store that doesn't even give you a box for storing the pins. For my other projects, I will absolutely be purchasing more of these fabulous papers.
