Questions & Answers

What is the best way to cut this foam?

When I'm cutting foam, you can count me in as an electric knife user. The electric knife is serrated and long, similar to a bread knife. narrow. Any type of wood saw is unlikely to work, but if you're careful, a soldering iron might. Make a line with a felt tip pen to serve as a guide for a straight line; if you don't have an electric knife, try Goodwill or other thrift stores. You don't realize how much of a labor saver it is until you've cooked a few turkeys or large roasts for the family!

What density would be best for use on a couch to add height and comfort so I can sleep on it after my hip replacement, medium or high density?

I have this answer for sure, I used high density, which I love, but it is a little too firm after a hip replacement, so use medium. You can determine the height by the thickness of the foam you purchase. Due to my bad back, I sleep on it every night. It's been a year, and everything about it is still perfect.

Will putting the 2' foam under my current cusions firm them up and add height to them? Also, when you look at the couch, will thefoam be visible?

That's exactly how I used the foam. It's now in the family room and the couch cushions in the basement. It did give the impression of more height. The cushion became much firmer as a result of this modification. I made a template out of my existing couch cushions. cut the foam slightly smaller (probably less than 1/4 inch smaller) to make stuffing the new cushion in with the old a little easier. so that it would not be visible

What is the time it takes for the odor to dissipate?

Both of mine had a strong odor to them.

Selected User Reviews For FoamTouch Upholstery Foam 2" x 24" x 72" High Density Cushion

My couch has been repaired! So, I'm usually too lazy to rate everything I buy on Amazon, but this product has exceeded my expectations! Our sofa is a little worn, but it's still in good shape besides the soft/saggy cushions, and we like the style, so we'd rather fix/keep it than buy a new one
5/5

When we first noticed the couch was becoming uncomfortably soft a few years ago, we took it to an upholstery shop and had the two cushions replaced for around $300. It worked out well, and I was relieved that we didn't have to purchase a new couch. Until they stopped being supportive after a year and a half. I tried a variety of things underneath the cushions, but none of them worked, and my cushions continued to slide all over the place every day. I was about to buy a new couch when I came across this product; I didn't expect it to solve the problem, but it was reasonably priced and much less expensive than comparable options, so I figured it was worth a shot. It's incredible how well it works for you. It took some effort to get the foam into the casing, but it was well worth the effort! Our sofa appears to be brand new! I did add a layer of cardboard between the original cushion and the new one because we prefer a firmer couch, but most people wouldn't need it. It was well worth the money!.

I would strongly suggest it
5/5

Our couch had lost a lot of its support, and sitting on it had become almost unbearable. I got this foam for less money than I could have gotten it in a craft store. To be honest, I didn't have high hopes because there was no odor and it was packaged well enough that the foam was not damaged. I'm glad I chose the high density option. It's as if the couch is brand new. We had a visitor stay with us one night, and she slept on the couch for the first time, and she said it was a huge improvement over the previous time she slept on it. Keep in mind that high density is a firm material. It is nearly devoid of give. It's been sitting on our couch for two months and hasn't softened up in the least.

The first of four boxes arrived with excellent high-density foam that was precisely what I had requested
3/5

This review is based on the product's inconsistency in sending you exactly what you requested. I ordered four boxes in total. Only one of them was made of high-density foam. As a one-time buyer, you should be wary of what you're getting, as my attached photos show. The first of four boxes arrived with excellent high-density foam that was precisely what I had requested. The next three were a waste of time. I wouldn't upholster anything in my house with this foam. The product should be 3" thick, but it isn't, as you can see. I took pictures of each item after placing 8 lb weights on the foam in the same manner. Be aware of what you're getting as a consumer!.

A sofa that has been reupholstered born! This was purchased to help firm up our sofa's sagging cushions
5/5

From my days as a bachelor to marriage, I had purchased the sofa 9 years before as the focal point of my living room, putting it through more than its fair share of TV watching, friends hanging out/napping, countless meals, and almost anything else condo living required. But, after all those years of dependable service, the balance of comfort and firmness had sunk to the point where my wife was looking for a [hopeful] replacement living room set. br>br>This is where the FoamTouch Cushion comes in. Given that I was only attempting to add density to the cushions rather than replace them entirely, the 2 in. The delivery was on time, and the pieces were cut and stuffed into the bottom of the box within half an hour of opening it. without making a mess or exerting too much effort - All you'll need is a pair of basic scissors! It's as if I've fallen in love again. br>br> with regard to the sofa The cushions now look and feel brand new, so much so that my wife said it before I could! And if her dissatisfaction with their success is any indication of how well the foam works, you'll be hard pressed to find a better substitute! My favorite couch is still around, and it's only a buck!.

THE FOAM IS SHOWN IN THE VIDEO
5/5

IN FACT, IT'S YELLOWISH.   I used this foam to create a protective padded case for my drone, as I mentioned in my video. Although it is clearly intended for cushions and upholstery, it can be used for a variety of purposes. br>br>I cut the foam with a simple razor blade, and it went smoothly. It's a breeze to work with this person. br>br>PLEASE NOTE: It is not bright white as shown in the photo, but was yellowed upon arrival. That didn't bother me, but it might be important to you. It's a nice foam that's also inexpensive and simple to use. br>br>.

Reupholstering dining chairs with this firm foam is a breeze
5/5

I recently bought some dining room chairs, and they were in desperate need of assistance. They were depressing, squishy seats! I did a lot of research on different foams and what type is best for dining room chairs that will be used moderately to heavily, and I came up with this one. I knew I wanted a high-density foam because it lasts longer, and I also knew I wanted firm so that it wouldn't become too soft over time as it softened. When compared to similar foam, the price was significantly lower, even lower than foam from local craft stores of lesser quality. The foam arrived in a roll, wrapped in Saran Wrap, and I unrolled it right away so it could "breathe" and become more flat so I could work with it more easily, which took about 2 days, but I'm sure you could work with it sooner. The shapes were easily cut out with a serrated bread knife. I was concerned because one of the previous reviews stated that this was a soft product, but mine is quite firm. Every night, we eat dinner at the table, and the chairs have improved significantly. When you sit in it, it sinks slightly, but not as much as a memory foam mattress. There is nothing out of the ordinary. So far, I've been a big fan, and I'm hoping it lives up to the hype. In a year, I'll revisit this post to see how they've held up. I've included a photo of the before and after so you can see how thick or thin you want your foam to be. 2 inches is just right for us. br>br>*Update* February 2017br>The foam is still holding up well, and we eat dinner at the table five times a week. 7 nights a week, and during the day, I do crafts with my tots. It's still firm, not sagging or lumpy, and the chairs look exactly like they did when I refinished them. I'm still very pleased with my purchase and will continue to give it a five-star rating!.
