Questions & Answers
When sewing with monofilament thread, I use a Microtex sharp size 70/10 needle and loosen the top tension on my sewing machine by one whole number. I don't use nylon thread, instead opting for polyester monofilament.
I'd recommend the 90, but you can also look up a chart online that will tell you which needle is best for your project. That way, you'll be able to make a decision based on the fabric you're working with.

I've previously used these needles to sew Batiks. This summer, I'll be teaching a class, and I want to make sure that every single one of my students has the proper needle. I'm sure the students will be grateful for having the correct needle.
These have never let me down. I use this needle to sew satin gowns and it performs admirably.
Schmitz needles are my favorite because of their high quality. On a Janome, Baby Lock Solaris, and Baby Lock Venture, I quilt, embroider, and do in-the-hoop projects. It goes without saying. I'm going to need a lot of different needles. If I'm not changing them out because of the number of hours they've been used or the type of project they've been assigned to. I'm constantly breaking them, so I keep a lot on hand. The microtex (sharps) are what Anita Goodesign recommends for most of the in-the-hoop projects I do, and they're my first choice. I also prefer the plastic case to the paper sleeve. It is impossible to make a mistake here.
Use Aurifil thread for this project. THESE ARE A BIG HIT WITH MY JANOMIE!.
The size 70 microtex/sharp needle is a versatile staple that can be used on a variety of fabrics. These have never been a source of contention for me. Edge-stitching and topstitching are both included in the price. Even if I don't change the needle after a project, the stitching usually turns out fine, so a five-pack of 5/ea is a good amount to keep on hand.
They're sharp and easily puncture the fabric and stabilizer, giving the finished product a lot of definition. This is the third time I've bought them, and I'll keep buying them as long as I need them.
On shirting, the score is 91 out of 100. These fit perfectly in my Singer 15-inch sewing machine. With 2 and 3 ply 50 weight threads, 91 on shirting and muslin.
I needed replacement parts for a serger I bought years ago at a rummage sale. I'd never used it before, so when I decided to give it a try, I thought I'd better stock up on needles. On the first day, I broke two needles. I was fortunate enough to have extras.
