Questions & Answers

Is this something that will work for at-risk children? Face masks that you can make at home ?

This is a non-returnable item. The wrong side of your cotton fabric will be fused with woven interfacing. I purchased this item in order to make my own masks. Use only the light or medium-weight fabrics. Make sure the wearer can breathe through all of the layers of cotton and interfacing in the finished version of your mask by using a heavier fusible interfacing (not fusible web).

Is it possible to use this to cover the back of an embroidery project in order to conceal loose ends and other miscellaneous items? Does it stay put or does it come off over time?

I've never tried it, but because the surface is uneven, I imagine it wouldn't stick very well.

Would this work to fix a 4 inch tear in a sheet or duvet cover?

It's not a patch, don't get me wrong. Collars, buttonhole areas, and as a third layer fused to the backside of face masks are all examples of where interfacing is used to give fabric more body. Because it's paper thin, this wouldn't last long as a patch. I'd just use a small stitch with a double thread in a matching color to patch up the duvet cover, or get a real patch with strong adhesive to catch the cut edges of the duvet, as they'll fray if you don't.

Is this too thin to be used for fabric coasters and mug rugs?

It'd be too thin, I believe. Batting or fusible fleece are used in most of the patterns I've found.

THE SECRET TO MAKING IT STICK! Bought to use as a backing on embroidered onesies so that the baby's skin does not become irritated
4/5

Using a wet cloth between the iron and the backing was recommended on my package and online. It would not stick when I tried it. My husband then discovered that simply ironing it makes it stick better! So, instead of using a damp cloth, use a dry iron. Run the iron over it until it begins to pill up slightly, then set it aside. After being washed and dried, it still looks good.

Exceptionally slim - Repairs are a breeze
5/5

I'm the "family seamstress," and when my brother's niece ripped an extremely thin romper in the seam, sewing it back together was impossible. This product allowed me to repair a torn seam because it is extremely thin and moves with the fabric.

Face masks are one of the many things I use this for
5/5

This is fusible interfacing, or iron-on interfacing. I only use this type of fabric stiffener. It's light and adds a little stiffness to the mix while remaining flexible. It's something I've used for a long time and it's never let me down. It's simple to use and the instructions are excellent. br>br>I use this to stiffen almost any fabric I'm working with. If I'm cutting out a specific shape, starting with the back makes it so much easier to cut precisely. It also makes running the fabric through your machine a lot easier, and it gives things like buttons a little more of a backing. This is 100% non-profit

This is 100% non-profit
This is 100% non-profit%3 woven polyester, which appears to be the material of choice for most facial mask pattern designers these days. I've made masks out of it for family and friends, and it works well. It can be cut with scissors or a rotary cutter with ease. It only needs a little heat from an iron to bond, and I've never had any delamination issues. It comes in a variety of weights, but I usually stick to the lightest option. br>br>This is a paraphrase of my wife's review, who is an expert seamstress and quilter.

Fantastic fusible interfacing! This item is extremely effective
5/5

I had no luck with the damp cloth they recommended. When I felt both sides of the fusable interfacing, I discovered that one side is smooth and the other is rough. I place the rough side of your fabric against the back side. It's not a problem for me to get it to stick. When ironing it on, make sure to use steam. Without the steam, it isn't as effective.

It didn't work out, and I'm sorry I used it! I bought this to use as a backing for clamshells for a quilt, and I hoped it would also work as a basting method — sew circles with fabric and interfacing, turn them right side out, and stick it to my background fabric with the sticky side
3/5

It's very light and prone to tearing, but that didn't bother me because I didn't want to add any extra weight to the quilt (and that was one of its advantages!). ) The problem is that no matter how hard I pressed - with a damp pressing cloth, without, with a steam iron, without - the result was the same. It was never very well adhered. Some pieces were better than others, but some would not stick no matter what I did. It's completely unreliable and incredibly inconvenient. I wasn't looking for super secure adhesion because I knew I'd see them down in the end, but it felt like a waste of time; I'm not sure if it was just this brand or if all ultra lightweight interfacing is like this, but I can't recommend it.

It works well, but the instructions could be improved
5/5

This is what I used to make a t-shirt. It's a shirt quilt, and it's working out nicely. The instructions, on the other hand, aren't exactly clear. It says to iron with a towel over it, but the heat does not transfer through the towel. Setting the iron to low heat (synthetic or silk setting) and ironing directly on the interfacing was a suggestion I found online. To avoid melting the interfacing, move the iron around as much as possible.

It's the perfect weight for mask making. They're now more comfortable to wear and have a layer of protection added to them.
