I'm not sure what size they are, but they should work well for sewing on buttons.
While they are simple to thread, I believe the sharp point will easily "catch" on the threads. When it comes to cross stitch, I prefer rounded point needles.

The needles arrived on time and in perfect condition. They have a nice length and weight to them, are very sharp, and the larger threading eye makes threading much easier. Hand sewing and embroidery are made a lot easier with this tool.
Whoever gave these a five-star rating should be congratulated. The star reviewer must not have a lot of sewing skills. These are the most ineffective needles I've ever encountered. Because they are so dull, you must stab them into the fabric, and then pull them through like sandpaper. They also rip the fabric into large holes. Fortunately, Amazon allows for free returns, which I am taking advantage of.
For regular fabric, the needles are too thick. I needed some common needles to hem or repair clothes and other household items, but this will leave a huge hole in the fabric. I simply cannot walk through it without causing damage to the fabric. I'm not sure if it's worthwhile to send it back. Although the eye is quite large, the needle is far too large for everyday use.
Good enough needles for a novice to occasionally repair a hem or a hole in a seam. The plastic tube container is particularly appealing to me. It protects your fingers from sharp edges and makes storage easier.
I ordered a set for myself, then for my mother and father for Christmas. They are a hit with everyone. When you're farsighted, the large eye on the helps. Or, in my case, I'm nearsighted and must remove my glasses when sewing.
The image resembles a pair of large, dull embroidery needles. I assumed the photo was magnified and that they would be smaller because the ad said "hand sewing. " They will leave a large hole in the fabric because they are too large to fit through most buttons. Although not designed for hand sewing, these needles appear to be perfectly adequate for embroidery.
These are the first needles I've found that don't break when I'm hand-tying vintage chenille quilts with cotton yarn. The ease with which they can be threaded is an added bonus. Do not be hesitant to buy.
I needed strong needles for sewing denim and corduroy, and I was able to obtain them. Tiny needles are fine for a variety of tasks, but what good are they if you can't thread them?.
