Though I have not used them yet, John James needles are strong, sharp, and they last a long time. I teach needle art and I give each of my students a John James needle to keep. It is a joy for me to introduce them to John James needles.

CREWEL NEEDLES ARE NOT SUITABLE! This is not a CREWEL needle! It's not true, nor do they say it is! The John James establishment was established in 1804 and does not fail to impress The products ought to be labeled! When wool is being handled, needles for crocheting are used

One hundred and one to be exact There is no thread in the 2 ply wool. As a result of the details of what crewel is and the wool one uses to make it, the holes should be much larger and not so sharp a point as to qualify as crewel needles. Threads used for embroidery are not the same as You should be careful as a buyer! Amazon received them back. I returned them to them. Unfortunately, Amazon had to waste their time and S/H costs in shipping to me and then had to return it after the mistake was made. This is represented on the website by the title.

My eyes are getting smaller as I age, and I have difficulty threading them. Because of their larger eyes, they work great. For hand sewing in general and crewel and embroidery in particular, it is easy to thread.
