What I purchased was 1/4 inch wide. I believe that there are different widths available.
If you sew carefully and use a needle size number 10 or 11 you should be able to do it, but you will have to be careful
A costume I made for my granddaughter was based on this pattern. Her outfit was worn for part of one day and for the whole day the next. The clothes were never worn again, so I just can't comment on how well they'll hold up. There are no kinks, though, since the weekend was over. I wish you all the best!

Follow these tips You will have to wiggle the boning out and sew When you are done, soak the boning in boiling hot water for at least 10 minutes Let the boning rest for 15 minutes, then lie flat with heavy books on top to help it uncurl. Rejiggle in the channel a little bit after it has dried and has been completely stitched.
It is not flexible enough to wrap around the nose when used as face masks. Although I tried to return it, I was unable to do so. Now that I have to find something else to use since it took a week to get it in, I have to find something else.
My theory was that the boning wouldn't be strong enough to hold up a strapless heavy gown, but it was! It's far better than flat steel boning, which I wanted to save money on. It is mentioned often that this boning should not be used in curves but I used it in the side seams of my gown and it worked beautifully. My waist is very small, and my bust is large, so it gave the garment a more pronounced curvature. Using the zipper foot is recommended when putting on the casing.
It is the first time that I am using boning in a garment. Based on the pattern's instructions, I ordered 1/4" boning. . . . the package I got from Australia was stamped 1/4" boning, which I am very pleased with The only major flaw is that As for width, the boning is 1/4" wide, but it is covered by fabric, making it 1/2 inch wide overall. My pattern calls for it to be inserted in a 3/8" placket at the bodice seams - this is not the right measurement. In that case, something 1/2" wide would have to be re-sized. Unfortunately for me, I tried it in only one seam, and discovered that the problem was here. By sewing the boning right next to the seam with a zipper foot and then lapping the seam allowance over the boning and sewing on the other side, also using the zipper foot, I was able to solve the problem. I found the product to be very good, and it worked well In the product description and on the packaging, it would be nice to clearly see how big the product is. In regards to the instructions to place the curve in the direction of the body, I appreciated them. If it hadn't been for the blog, I might not have written about it.
It was good that Amazon was able to help me find it, since my area is very rural and no one knew what I was looking for.
The boning worked very well as I threaded it through the case to give shape to the top of the small trash bag I placed beside my sewing machine. It was handy to have the pin cushion and trash bag combined next to my sewing machine.
I think it went well overall. Although I was able to round out the end of the plastic boning, it still felt sharp in some spots, and I was unable to smooth it A cut in the polyester cover causes it to fray badly.
I purchased a small package. It was easy to order a larger quantity from you at a more than reasonable price. Your product meets exactly what I was searching.
