55 yards of earloop elastic for a low price and quick delivery! This elastic is soft and thin enough to go behind your ears for a facemask, but it's also strong and stretchy, which I really like. I wished it had arrived on a spool or neatly wrapped around itself, but it was all balled up and stuffed into a small plastic bag. Even so, it untangles easily, and since I only need small pieces at a time, it's not a big deal. It's simple to sew through and doesn't unravel when cut and sewn like some elastics do.
The reason I gave it a two-star rating is because it was so out of the box. It took me about two pictures and 45 minutes to get out of the mess. This is something I will not order again.
When the hank arrived, it wasn't completely tangled, but it took some time to untangle it and wind it around a section of empty gift wrap tube. I'm a knitter, and I'd like to share some of my creations with you. I'm not bothered by a few tangles. br>br>I don't sew the elastic into my masks because there is a channel for it. It's a fairly thick, soft cord, and I can see how a sewing machine would be annoyed by it. br>br>I've only washed it a few times, so I can't comment on durability, but it appears to retain its elasticity. Was it because of quarantine that I sat and stretched a piece a hundred times while staring blankly into the distance? You betcha! br>br>Overall, I'm in a good mood. With the elastic in place. Everything else is still a shambles, but at least my masks will be pleasant to wear.
When making face masks, don't put too much strain on your ears. It arrived this morning, and I had already washed and dried ten yards on hot/high heat to see how well it would hold up. I believe I lost a few inches in length due to shrinkage, but not nearly as much as I expected, and the stretch remains unchanged. The most serious flaw (4 out of 5) is that it came in a plastic bag rather than on a roll of some sort. I can see how this could tangle during shipping, but they were thoughtful enough to tape the end of the elastic to the top of the bag so you can easily find it.
I bought this 1/8-inch elastic strap to make a children's face mask. When it comes to wearing a mask, I've found that regular braided elastic can be uncomfortable for small children's ears. This is ideal because it is gentle and soft. It does not rub and has a good amount of stretch. It appears to be the same material as the disposable masks used by children at the pediatrician's office, and I am very pleased with my purchase.
Other reviewers chastised this product for not winding the elastic onto a spool, claiming that it was all jumbled together. However, this was not the case. I agree that it wasn't tangled, but it wasn't wound onto anything either. I pulled the two ends (which were easy to retrieve) and wound them onto my own spool EASILY but carefully. There's no need to be concerned. Also, the elastic is incredibly soft and pleasant to the touch!.
This is the same material used in the ear loops of disposable masks and hospital masks. My only complaint is that it only comes in a plastic bag with no wounds or anything, so expect to fight with a tangled mess if you don't fix it right away. I'd make a "yarn ball" out of mine and store it in the little bag it came in to keep it tidy.
Yes, they could have wrapped it in a spool, but considering the quality of the cord you're getting, it's a minor inconvenience. Because mine was delayed for a few days, I received it a week after ordering, rather than the three days promised. Overall, this is a good purchase.
