To get the 'bead' to move, you must press down. We haven't had any problems with them moving on their own accord.
By pressing the rubber buckle, you can shorten or lengthen the mask lanyard.
No, I've never had any issues with fraying or elasticity loss.
On this elastic cording, there was no origin tag. I'm guessing it's China, but you'll have to ask the seller.

The quality is decent, but not as good as some of the other items I've purchased from another seller. This product was ordered in 100 yard increments, but only 75 yard increments were delivered. I measured it twice, stretching it out to the point where it could lay flat on a yard stick and be wound onto 25-yard spools. I contacted the seller but have yet to receive a response on how they plan to address this issue. It came right to 75 yards, so I'm 25 yards short right now.
When I received the elastic, I measured it and discovered that only 73 of the promised 100 had been delivered.
It's so stretchy that 3 year old masks can stretch to fit a large adult face with a beard; the only problem is that I can get four ties (two masks) out of a yard if I use it generously. Then I should have gotten AT LEAST 200, but I only got about 150 toddlers in this batch. Adult sizes are available. I'm going to place another order and double-check everything.
I use about 5 1/2 inches of this elastic for each ear when I make the Olson style mask. I tie a small knot in the end of the elastic before sewing it into the sides of the masks, and it stays in place perfectly. These are very comfortable and have a lot of stretch.
It's incredibly convenient to be able to quickly put on and take off your mask without having to put it down. This is particularly useful when going for a walk, biking, or running errands in your car. Because most masks fold flat when not in use, these straps allow them to hang flat on your chest and out of the way when not in use. I'm also finding that I'm handling the mask less frequently, which means there's less risk of cross contamination. The cord, fasteners, and toggle clasps are all of the highest quality.
Soft is ideal for mask ear loops because it is gentle on the ears even when worn all day.
Face masks would be ideal with these. It is gentle on the skin. It could just be my imagination, but there were two (presumably) 50-year-old women in the room. Instead of a single 100 yard string, yard strings are tied together in the middle. It makes no difference to me, but I thought I'd mention it.
I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it, but I decided to give it a shot. I made some masks for my grandchildren and used oval elastic for the ear loops, which didn't work out so well. So I took them out and replaced them with this, and they love it. It has a lot of stretch to it, which is fantastic.
