Bernina's hook system is multi-faceted. These are designed to work with machines that stitch at a standard width of 5mm. The machines that use 9mm wide decorative stitches require thinner, larger diameter bobbins. Bernina machines that take a BIG black bobbin are more recent and larger. If you're not sure which bobbin you'll need, go to the Bernina USA website.
They fit my Bernina Record, but it was made in 1958. Class 15 bobbins are what you're looking at here. I'm not sure when Bernina switched to bobbins, but they were used on older machines.
Yes, bobbins are sold by brand and these work well.
I have a Quilters Edition 440 that works fine, and the Artista 140, according to one source, uses the same bobbins.

I've purchased Bernina bobbins in the past that looked similar in the grooved center but weren't as flat in the tiny ring at the top and bottom of the bobbin. My Bernin bobbins have a small ring that is slightly raised but finely polished. I'm not sure how well these will fit into my machine. Similar bobbins I have on hand from earlier sewing days appear to be the same as the ones I just purchased, but they don't work as well in my Bernina 1031. I'm unable to test them right now because my machine is at a friend's house who is out of town. If they are a problem, I will return them because I believe I have been misled.
They'll go on my Bernina 530. br>br> I used an orange marker to mark the bobbin that came with my machine so that I wouldn't mix them up when comparing. br> br>br>Notice how the genuine bobbin on the left has a specially cut notch on the bobbin's inside cylinder. This notch, which appears to be used to grab/link with the machine for sewing, is most likely important for the machine's accuracy. br>br>On the right, a smooth sealed line but no indentation distinguishes this "made in China" knockoff. I don't want to risk destroying my machine or its alignment over a cheap bobbin. Will be coming back. br>br>.
I was hesitant to order these because the reviews ranged from excellent to terrible. Genuine bobbins for my Bernina 330 usually cost me $2 each. I enjoy purchasing a large quantity of bobbins at once. I have to go back if the store doesn't have them (or as many as I want) in stock, and I have to remember their business hours (they aren't always open when I can go). So I calculated that even if some of them were defective, I would still make a profit at this price. All 20 bobbins appear to be identical to my genuine Bernina bobbins, and they arrived in two days with prime. I haven't had to use all 20 in my machine yet, but the ones I have used so far have performed admirably. I no longer have to be concerned about running out of bobbins when I need them.
Although I could use the 10 holed bobbins, my machine takes the six holed bobbins. Your garment will look better with the proper bobbins, and your machine will not break down due to bobbin issues.
Be aware that these bobbins are not the same as those used by Bernina. Today was their arrival. The center is smooth and lacks groves for thread grip, which may or may not be a problem. However, there are large burrs on the top and bottom of the bobbin's hole part, which will score the inside of the bobbin case as it spins. These bobbins would never be used by me. What a pity, because the craftsmanship is incredible.
A B350 is the model I own. The. Bobbins are identical to those included with the machine.
These arrived more than a week ahead of schedule (from China). They are exactly as shown (including the knurled shaft) and are a perfect match for the bobbins that came with my Bernina 550QE. A Bernina original equipment and one that arrived today are shown in the photos below. Anyone who can tell which is which is up for a challenge. This is an excellent deal for 20 bobbins, and I would buy them again. Note: When I first realized how long it would take for them to arrive, I attempted to cancel my order; however, the response email was prompt, courteous, and could not be cancelled because the bobbins had already shipped. They told me to just return the bobbins when they arrived, but I'm keeping them anyway because they weren't here in time for my original need. I've never made a better purchase in my life.
These bobbins have completely disappointed me. They appear to be identical and fit in the bobbin case, but the thread will not go into the grooves of the bobbin case. I'm afraid I won't be able to use them. On the inside, toy bobbins are plain, but these are decorated. They're far too tall for my liking. I'm stumped as to where I can get the correct size.
