Despite my dislike for needle tatting, I have been able to teach myself the basics (DS, picots, and rings) in minutes using videos I found online. I am slowly learning to use shuttles again since some patterns/tutorials are easier with those. This is one of them and I also have two Two main differences appear to be present By winding these onto the bobbin, the thread will be able to be wound. The shuttle comes with two bobbins, and you can buy more if you want them. When you jump from project to project like me, this method of winding thread will likely be more convenient for you. To be able to eliminate the need for many extra shuttles or to cut off your current project from the shuttle afterwards and wind your new thread, you simply slide out the bobbin. By winding thread directly onto the bobbin with Clover shuttles, you can get a beautiful stitch. There is a reason why that is a bad idea. But it can also be a good thing. This will accommodate a little more thread if you have extra shuttles or do not bounce from project to project. Additionally, the tip of the shuttles is different, showing how the shuttles are different. Interestingly, these shuttles have a crochet hook as their tip, while the Clover shuttles are only equipped with a plastic needle. You can decide this based on your preferences. They are more convenient due to the tip than the plastic tip styles. The shuttle with the plastic tip I would have had to join with a separate little hook when I had to use the plastic tip instead. Other factors to consider, but may be more important to those who use the device a lot Shuttles and bobbins from Aerlit are available in a wide variety of colors. This makes it easy to mix and match colors according to your own taste. Unlike the Clover shuttles, the Clover shuttles come in a number of colors though pink and blue seem to be the most popular. As both are plastic you could always find a way to make either suit your taste (some have been They are similar in weight, though this one feels just a little lighter than the Clover when loaded. Again, preference doesn't make too much of a difference, and a few people might prefer the added weight, and others might like it lighter. I'd say, all things considered, it's a I would have bought these first and just added extra bobbins if I could do it all over again. It's not that I dislike the Clover shuttles these are just a bit more to my taste. When trying to choose between needle and shuttle for the first time, there are several factors to consider My recommendation is to go with needles, but if you decide to try both and like needles a lot, don't feel like you wasted money on them. When I needle tat, I find myself using these as well When I have just a little thread wrapped around these in my hand, it is much easier to keep the cat away than when I have a full ball of thread and plenty of room between me and the thread so she can 'help'.
I purchased a cheap piece of plastic that cracked just a little, but is still functional. The rest of the system works great.
The perfect translation.
It's very nice to have these shuttles for tatting. When they are used, they make a clicking sound. The fact that you can change the bobbins and refill them is nice. Besides the hook that is built in, I like how it is very helpful while I like how sturdy the shuttle is.
A shuttle like this one is very appealing to me.
It does what it's supposed to do. You won't have to worry about it breaking since the plastic is sturdy enough.
