This beginner needlepoint kit is ideal for boys and girls aged 6 and up. I bought this for my 7-year-old grandson, and he loved it so much that he made it as a gift for a sibling. Except for scissors, the kit comes with everything you need. Persistence, patience, focus, and pride in accomplishment are all taught in this way. We started out with me sitting next to him, directing every stitch, and then on the second session, he did more on his own, but with me nearby to assist. I was sitting nearby by the third/last session, but he took care of everything. Listen to the child, offer encouragement, and allow time for rest; if a mistake occurs, simply explain that mistakes are inevitable when learning, undo the work gently, and begin again. My grandson was extremely pleased with his work, and he did an excellent job.
This is not a beginner's level of difficulty. My 6 yr. This did not go over well with the older granddaughter. She became enraged and decided to abandon the project. My 48-year-old son-in-law is having a lot of fun with the cupcake one. He is doing a fantastic job.
The quality of the yarn was poor. It was difficult to work with because it was fuzzy. I've used these kits in the past, but this one left me disappointed. But I'm going to try it again.
Extras are usually included in these types of kits.
Purchased for my 6-year-old granddaughter, who was interested in learning needlepoint. There isn't enough yarn to finish the project; I was supervising and she didn't waste any, but the company was so cheap that they couldn't include enough.
The idea of having a picture printed on the sewing project appealed to me, but it rubbed off as I worked on it, making it difficult to determine which color to stitch where.
This is what I did with my 6-year-old son. He did a fantastic job with my 12-year-old grandson. I'll get another one to try with my 5-year-old daughter because the instructions were simple and the plastic canvas was the perfect size. If I find a different pattern, I'll give it to my year-old granddaughter.
This is my seven-year-old granddaughter's first stitching project, and I believe she will enjoy it.
