What if I want to use the felting pen with them?

You are likely to be able to do so. The type of pen you own will determine how well it will write. Around a quarter of an inch from the top, the needle forms a 90 degree bend. The handle of the tool is what holds it in place.

Not a full needle felting tool, but a refill kit with fine gauge needles

I have three Clover felting tools which these needles fit into. There is one needle with fine needles, one with heavy needles, and the third with multi-needles The punch has everything I need to use at the moment, and I also have another needle to use as needed without a tool. It is only the refills that cause me problems. The needles in Clover packages come with 5 needles per package. As I break a lot of them, I need a larger supply. If I have to waste my time searching for yet another package of needles, I'll get better someday, but not while I'm still searching for larger packages.

My sister's felting tool that I borrowed from her broke a couple of needles and I wanted it returned in good order. Felting was my first attempt, and I still wasn't quite clear on how it worked. As a result, I was able to place an order for this refill and finish my project before returning the tool as good as new to her! Needles were easy to change. Just be careful not to stick yourself when changing the needles. My concern was the size of the needle, since there are several listings, but they all seem to be the same and they worked just.

Easy to use, the tool and needles can be changed in a matter of minutes. Having a relaxing art to do as well as good tools is very helpful.

It would be absurd to use other types of felting pens other than those that can be used with a The balls broke into a simple ball shape after being light felted for 30 minutes.

Until I tried Clover brand felting needles, I wasn't convinced there would be much difference in felting needles. They are so much better than the generic felting needles I have purchased in the past.
