Needles in size 36 are included with the tool. For finer detail work, it's best to use size 38 or size 40. In some kits, size 36 needles are referred to as course needles, size 38 needles are referred to as mediums, and size 40 needles are referred to as fine needles.
I'm not sure about the exact gauge, but the shorter needles seem to be the finer ones from what I've seen. so on.

I'm impressed by the number of needles included in this kit. There are three sizes available. The only reason I gave it three stars for giftability is that I dislike giving sharp objects as gifts. They were both in good spirits. They're also incredibly sharp, and they'll pierce your skin. Two glove fingers are included. They're inconvenient to use, but once in place, they provide a lot of protection. I'm thinking of getting a pair of thicker leather gloves - Why don't you cut your fingers off and put them on? If your hands are moving, you must not take your gaze away from them. The only thing I would change about this product is to include a card or piece of paper with some instructions or tips. The whole thing is pretty self-explanatory, but some pointers or advice would have been helpful, especially because the foam in this kit degrades quickly. I made a pad from a stack of store-bought craft felt I had on hand (approximately 15 pieces. ) It felts together nicely and makes a nice pad.
This could be a good deal for new felters, but the needles kept breaking on me. Five of them (small) broke as soon as I started using them. The wooden-handled 8-needle holder left grey marks on my white wool the first time I used it. The needles were coated in a way I'd never seen on any other needles before.
This set is fantastic! I am not a beginner, and I can confidently state that this is an excellent set. The needles are reasonably strong, but the smalls will break if you use them on something that has already been toughly felted. The included awl is useful for correcting errors, and the pink finger covers in my set are adorable. Overall, this is a fantastic set that I would buy for a friend or recommend to others.
Do not squander your cash! These needles will not pierce the wool in any way. To get them to come in, I'd have to put so much pressure on them that I'd end up stabbing myself. I tried a different needle from a different source and it worked perfectly, so I know it wasn't the wool.

It would be much more efficient if they had a smaller one with three needles.
The packing box had not been bent or dented, and the contents of the splintered plastic case had not been harmed. It appears that I received a damaged package, with plastic shards strewn throughout. At the very least, I'm the only one who's been hurt by the shards and not a student. Although no packing material was used, the kit arrived in a sturdy box that appears to be brand new and undamaged. Otherwise, the content would have been deserving of a perfect score. The felting needles and scissors must be kept in a sealable container, and a broken kit case isn't worth much money.
It was exactly what I expected. Because these needles are sharp, I strongly advise you to use the thumb and finger guards. If you want to make anything larger, you'll need a larger foam base for felting; I've already felted wool insoles for my winter boots.
There are a lot of felting needles in this kit. Wooden needle holder for one needle as well as a wooden needle holder for six needles - For small felting projects or larger items, this is an excellent choice. Finger cots made of leather to protect your fingers while you're felting. The only flaw was that the plastic box in which the items were packed arrived broken. I didn't return the item because I needed the needles and holder right away (plus, due to the broken box, it probably wouldn't be worth it to return the entire thing). When it was placed or thrown on my porch, the box may have been broken during delivery. If I needed it, I'd buy it again.
