Perhaps pins can be put in it, as well as some kind of fan. Blocking knitted pieces is easy with this device.
A moderate amount, unless it is dug out. Eventually, no matter how well it is woven, it will eventually display pin points due to the tension created when the yarn pulls and dries.
Three-eighths of an inch thick is the thickness of the boards. My straight pins are made of stainless steel, and I use them for blocking crochet squares. It doesn't matter how thick they are, as they are meant As far as needle point is concerned, I would guess it is able to handle it I find that they work well for me.
That seems like it would not work very well, but I haven't tried it.

The blocking squares are a bit thin, but their stiff backing makes them sturdy enough to be blocked. I have a major issue with these blocking mats, which makes them unusable for my purposes since the marked squares are not an inch wide or long. Knitting and crocheting rectangles, 9 inches by 7 inches, are on my to-do list. From the picture, you can see that the 7" measurement is actually 7-1/2" One quarter "is actually one quarter a ", and one ninth is actually ninety-six 5/16" in diameter. The rectangles are sent to Warm Up America so that they may be sewed together to make blankets for the homeless/needy. Therefore, it is their size that is crucial. You should get your item from another supplier and manufacturer.
However, the size is not really 12 x 12, when you put all four together it comes to a 21" x 21" rather than a 24" x 24", otherwise it is very easy to handle and can be used for other purposes besides 12" squares.
Since I am a knitter, these blocking mats would be too small for me. Their advertisement says that they are 12"*12", but they do not mention that their measurement also includes the teeth around the edge. There is a real working area of just 10"*10" on each square of the mat. If the item being blocked is 12x12, it has no use. The experience was disappointing, and I plan on returning.
These are the same size as those being sold by Michael's. This was the only one I could find so I was glad these worked.
I make many afghans and blocking them is so challenging. This is the first time that I have made afghans that fit together perfectly. There is one drawback, however the measurement between one square and the next can differ. For me, it's no problem, as I just mark where the afghan needs to lie as I block it with a pin. It is the second set I have purchased and I would definitely purchase The materials are so excellent that I doubt I will have to replace them at any time.
It serves the purpose, but one thing I noticed when taking off the cellophane was a strong chemical smell. All 4 pads have had to be air dried outside for 2 days, and the faint smell is still present. As far as my crochet items go, I hope it does not spread.
Could you please tell me how to get rid of the horrible chemical smell? As soon as they smell better, I'm not going to put my blocks there. A little soap and water won't do much.
