Questions & Answers
From top to bottom, the length is 18 inches. I'd start at the bottom of the toe and work my way up until I reached the top. Bucilla claims to be 18 inches tall. Remember the hanger, you're 17 inches tall.
Dear Customer,br>You can take it to an Embroidery Machine or hand stitch the letters yourself if you live in your area.
I've been making 3 or 4 of these a year for about 20 years, so I'm an expert at them. They're labor intensive, and I always say I don't keep track of hours because no one believes me. Every evening, I work on one for about two hours, and it takes me two hours to complete. One will take three weeks to complete. I don't want to discourage you, and I hope this information is useful.

This stocking is simple to make and looks lovely if you follow the instructions. The instructions are simple and straightforward - It's simply exhausting and time-consuming to keep up with them all. It's a worthwhile investment, in my opinion. br>br>Only one part of the stocking was altered. I wanted a name at the top instead of the design shown, so I skipped adding the thread and sequins to that section and used the same piece of felt, but flipped it over so the black outlines were on the back. Then there was nothing left for me to do! I came up with the name in the following way: DIRECTIONS FOR ADDING A NAME TO THE TOPbr>1. ADD A NAME TO THE TOPbr>2. Turn the white felt over so that the black lines are on the back side. Attach the white felt to the stocking with a needle and thread.
2. For the letters, use the letter templates that came with the stocking. Enlarge them with a copier until they are the desired size.
3. Then, using tracing paper, create your design.
While watching TV and listening to music, I had a great time doing this. The only issues I had with the kit stemmed from my own making. It was necessary for me to re-write re-do some stitches that I messed up earlier. I should have also paid more attention to the instructions. You'll be fine if you take the time to prepare and educate yourself on these kits. br>br>To cut down on the learning curve, I highly recommend reading some websites that provide tips on how to complete the kits. This isn't required, but it will help you learn from the mistakes of others. I'm glad I did because I believe my finished product will be more durable over time. For example, instead of using one piece of thread to sequin/bead, I used two and doubled the stitch to ensure a secure fit. I used a double stitch to sew the sequin/bead onto the stocking and then re-sewed it. Threaded the same sequin/bead twice to secure it, which should ensure that the sequins/beads stay on the stocking for decades and withstand normal wear and tear. I used all 6 strands when stitching the name at the top of the stocking because I thought it would look thin otherwise, and I used up the threads faster because I used more strands than the instructions recommended. I had read on several websites that this would happen, so I went to Amazon and bought some extra thread. I could have bought it from Bucilla, but I was able to find thread on Amazon that was a perfect match for the colors. br>br>As I worked on the stocking, I began to get the hang of it. It's a straightforward procedure - All you have to do now is read the directions carefully and take your time!! Rushing is a surefire way to make a mistake. I didn't like a few minor details about the stocking, so I bought extra felt to make some minor changes. This is purely a matter of personal taste and is not required! The stocking is lovely on its own. All I wanted to do was make a few minor adjustments. If you're going to make a stocking, make sure you give yourself plenty of time. These kits appear to be simple, but they take a long time to complete. I didn't work on the stockings because I didn't have enough time. It took me about a month and a half to get to this point. It takes time to lightly iron the pieces (they have a few wrinkles from being folded in the packaging), read the instructions, cut out the pieces, secure them on, and finally, the sequin/beading, which is, in my opinion, the most time-consuming process. I had a lot of fun making this stocking, even though I underestimated the time it would take. Each of my nieces and nephews will receive a stocking from me. I'll keep buying extra thread, stuffing, and felt in the future, and I'll start the kits much earlier next time so I'm not rushing to finish before Christmas.
While the final product is always beautiful, I've noticed a drop in the material's quality. The felt is thinner than it once was, and the stamped numbers are frequently difficult to decipher. The number eight, for example, appears to be a three, while number seven appears to be a one. Having said that, I still enjoy making these stockings and find the instructions to be straightforward. A stocking takes me about 40 hours to make (working a couple of hours per day). I was a little overwhelmed the first time I made a stocking, but I was thrilled with the end result; there may be cheaper alternatives, but I believe Bucilla is the best.
This is the only brand of kit that I will use to make stockings for all of my grandchildren. Not only is it of excellent quality, but the instructions, printing, and felt are also of exceptional quality. I've used other brand kits before and found them to have poor instructions, insufficient parts, or lines that are difficult to see and cut out. Spend the money on these kits if you want to make things easier for yourself. They don't let you down.
Bucilla's stocking kits are simple to put together and look great. This is the second time I've used them in a project. There are plenty of materials to complete the instructions, as well as to make some changes. For example, I used leftover blue thread and white sequins to change the color of the star, red thread to outline the green swirls on the bag (to cover the white print that remained, which was my only complaint), and dark green to change the green stripe on the present. (I also embroidered the reindeer with the incorrect brown. ) I also moved the personalization to the top front of the stocking from the back of the star.
It appears that the quality of the sequins has deteriorated! But man, I'm a sucker for these!.
everything in one place Everything went according to plan. You did an excellent job! I'm excited to put it all together.
I've made a few of these, and they're fantastic! On my mantel, they look lovely. You won't be able to finish it in a few nights! They're extremely detailed!.
