I'm hoping I'll be able to turn these into wonderful Christmas ornaments! The only thing I dislike about this project is that you must enlist the help of a parent to iron the designs onto the fabric, and threading the needle is difficult (though I finally figured it out last night!). However, having the designs printed on the fabric made it easier to see where to stitch. This is something I would strongly suggest to kids who want to try needlepoint. It is more appropriate for children aged 9 and up.
My 8-year-old granddaughter was the recipient of this purchase. I taught her how to sew with this kit. She's completed four projects so far, all of which she thoroughly enjoyed. The instructions are clear, and the materials are suitable. I'd purchase the kit again for a young or inexperienced sewer. It's worth noting that an experienced seamstress can still assist a new sewer in getting the most out of this kit.
For my 8-year-old and 10-year-old daughters, I believe this beginner embroidery kit was ideal. It had simple, easy-to-follow instructions, which I thought was ideal for newcomers. It included all of the materials you'd need to get started learning how to embroider.
Overall, it's fantastic, but the material is a little too stiff/thick for my 5-year-old son to needle through on his own.
I bought this for my nieces, ages 10 and 12, and I was underwhelmed. The thread unravels and makes it difficult to thread the needle, which in turn makes threading the needle difficult. To get the needle through the fabric, you have to pull so hard that when it pops through, their arms jerk up and I'm afraid they'll hurt themselves. They persevered for a while because they wanted to make the designs, but neither of them finished one because it became too tedious.
Overall, it's fantastic. However, the threads could be better, the designs could be more varied, and the quality of the balso wood used in the hoops could be better. The large one was damaged when it arrived. I couldn't wait for a second order due to time constraints, so I decided to keep it.
The instructions are missing, as are the ten designs.
When she opened the box, one of the hoops (the larger) was broken. She was let down, but she was looking forward to the rest of the kit. If at all possible, please send a new hoop. Carolyn K. , thank you very much.
