When I first began to embroider, I bought a small hoop from a craft store along with a few skeins of DMC floss. Because it was such an amazing thing, I bought this kit to save myself the trouble of making multiple Although the quality is not consistent as advertised, it does include a good amount of stuff, more than you would need for embroidery, and is well equipped with some good general tools as well. The hoops I bought at the craft store were not as tight as the one I made myself. It has a lot of different floss types, but it isn't as nice as DMC floss. Although I was able to thread my needle with the floss from the DMC kit smoothly, it was nearly impossible to thread the floss from this kit without the help of Stitching was interrupted after a few hours by a needle threader that broke. I had regular problems with floss getting stuck on rough spots on my fingers with this kit since it was less slick. My favorite thing about working with DMC thread is how easy it is to work with the same colors for different projects. The wax that came with the kit might get used but I will have to go to another craft store to find some more before I can make.

As described, this kit is exactly what you expected. I love that the threads were pre-labeled with the DMC colors, so I didn't have to waste time trying to find the right colors when I started my first project. I wish the instructions on how to cross stitch were a bit more extensive. In spite of the price, I am extremely pleased with the quality of the materials and everything is in place for me to start.

There were little squares on it. They might be intended as a tool to help people learn stitches but it cannot really be used for As a result, I could not create an embroidery design with it. A few embroidery stitches would also have been nice to have on the instruction sheet. If the beginning reader doesn't know any stitches, it would have been helpful to have a few images showing how to do a few of the stitches. Ample supplies were included in this kit, both in numbers and in variety.

Several years ago, I did freehand embroidery and was looking for a comfortable hobby to relax with. Hence, I bought this kit to get me started. When I was 14, they were critical! Now they are much more important! negative is that it came with scissors that do not work well. The good thing is that I actually had thread scissors in the house, so this isn't a big deal.
