Questions & Answers

What would be a good machine to learn to sew on for a 9 year old? Do you think you're too Is that right?

The product was given to my eight-year-old as a gift. The most challenging part of running the sewing machine for my granddaughter, who has never run one before, is learning how much pressure to put on the pedal. It was just an ole piece of fabric I used for practice.

What kind of denim can be sewn by this machine?

Please follow these instructions when sewing denim or any other type of heavy weight fabric on the Singer Model 1304 sewing machine Here are the settings for your machine Stitch by far the longest straight stitch (to compensate for the fabric thickness), 3. Metal All Purpose Foot (on your machine when it was new) 4. I use a Singer model 2026 needle, needle size 16 to 18 (using another brand can cause issues with tension). When sewing multiple layers and seams, sew with a moderate speed

The model you show does not appear to have reverse stitching, am I right?

It is possible to sew in reverse with the Singer model 1304 In addition, all current Singer sewing machines (except serger machines) include an automatic needle threader.

What is the hem-time for jeans when using this machine?

I like it a lot! This purchase has been a great experience for me
5/5

It was a month ago that I personally resolved to learn to sew with this machine, and I have done quite a few things with it since then. You can easily learn how to use it from the beginning. With my sewing machine, I have been able to make scarves for winter and repair my jeans and I have made my husband a caddy for his sewing machine. I am very entertained doing things with it. It was a great purchase.

A basic sewing machine that is great for beginners
5/5

I purchased this sewing machine again after a 30 year hiatus because I was looking for a simple machine to replace my First, I tried a lightweight Brother printer, but it made me want to chuck it. There's something quite satisfying about the smooth action, the small size, and how easy it is to In contrast to the Brother machine that I was never able to adjust properly, the tension on the Brother machine was right out of the box. Six stitches are sufficient for my needs, but I never find it necessary to do more than that. It is a superb sewing machine for basic stitching.

It's a nice little machine for beginners and people who don't want to understand all the features
5/5

It occurs to me that this machine is somewhat unique from the following As someone who has been sewing for well over 20 years now, it is likely that the machines in the class where I learned were fairly basic, however I have been using my mom's higher-end machine most of the time. While I have been sewing for most of my life, and especially since the last decade, I've used top-end machines The plus side. Coming to this machine (my very first machine that is truly MINE) was a bit of a step back for me, but I tried not to let my experience with high-end machines get in the way of my overall learning Set up can be simple and easy), and start using it. This should be your very first machine, so I recommend you read through the manual (I am generally of the opinion that you should always read the manual). There is a small bag of accessories neatly tucked away in the machine's accessory tray compartment (the box at the front of the machine from which you can open There is already one bobbin in the bobbin compartment, as well as an additional three (4 in Including 3 additional needles (on top of the one installed already), 3 total feet (the "all-in-one" An "all-purpose" foot is already attached, as well as a buttonhole foot and zipper foot), 2 spool pin felts, a needle plate screwdriver, and a small lint brush with a mini seam ripper hidden inside its In the compartment, all of the accessories fit neatly without taking up too much space. Immediately after finishing the bobbin, I began to wind the reel. A diagram on the top of the machine shows how the thread should be run from the bobbin winder to the spool. I kept my foot on the pedal as I wound the bobbin, and the winder simply stopped winding when the bobbin was full. You can thread the machine with the help of diagrams on the top and the front of the machine, and the process is the same as with any other sewing machine. The tool does not include a needle threader, which is handy if it existed, but not entirely Even if you have difficulty threading the needle, you can still use a hand-held needle threader (for example) in order to get the thread through the eye of the needle. The Lead- You might want to be careful if you drive on your feet Fast is the key to the machine's operation. As a child, I used to use the speed control on my mom's machines, which allowed you to set a top speed and, no matter how fast you pushed the pedal (or whatever the flooring was), it wouldn't exceed that speed. With this machine, the only way to control speed is to apply pressure to the foot pedal, so be sure to take it easy on it! Since I'm used to higher-end machines having speed control, I'm not taking away any stars because it is not a "missing feature" since nowhere on the machine does it sound like this feature is present, it is simply something I'm accustomed to. There are machines at the ends of the line. Perhaps you should consider buying a different machine in this case.

Another feature from higher-level machines is the ability to play back video files in high definition. One of the end machines that I noticed was lacking on this machine was a button that could set whether the needle stops up or down. On the right side of the machine there's a knob that you can use to raise and lower the needle, but sometimes it's nice to have the needle stop down in order to not have to time how long you're standing without the foot pedal. As I said, it is not a star deduction because it is a basic machine, but it is something to keep in mind. When the needle is placed in a position that is different from where you want it (up, down, or anywhere in between), you can simply turn the knob back and forth to position it where you want There are two levers on the panel to raise and lower the beam It is easy to lower the presser foot with just a finger, and it can lift the presser foot fairly high, above the raised "resting". A thread runs through all of this - The machine has a left-side cutter. On the front right of the machine is a lever that allows you to easily reverse the machine It is stitched. You set your stitching width by turning the large round dial at the top front of the machine (with the blue S in the center). The selector is Put the stitch you want in line with the little marking at the top center, and you're all set. A total of three straight stitch lengths and three zigzag stitch lengths are included The widths of the zigzag, satin-finish There are four aspects of the four-yard circle stitch, blind hem, scallop, and the four-yard circle Two-step buttonhole stitch (Steps 2 & 3 In one or more of the cases, the same part is used). Additionally, you can control the stitching tension with the dial just to the left of the stitch selector. I would recommend leaving it on "4" for straight stitching most of the time, and the manual offers instructions on how to check if the tension is "good" and adjust it accordingly. A nice little machine, thanks to its inexpensive price. It's perfect for beginners and anyone who doesn't need all the bells and whistles that comes with heavier machines There are machines at the ends of the line. As I tested it on muslin as well as flannel (both fabrics that I had on hand), both held up well. Heavy-lifting is a difficult task for you if you don't have the right equipment Similarly, if you are working with heavier duty fabrics (corduroy, denim, upholstery fabric, etc), you will need special needles, as well as "wispier" materials An employee should be able to assist you in choosing the needles that are right for your machine and fabric when you are buying the It does what it says it will do and for that alone this machine deserves 5 stars With its simple launching pad, it provides a nice introduction to the program without overwhelming users.

Getting a good little sewing machine like this one made sense for me, since I wanted something to always have on hand for mending clothing and other small projects, then pack it up when I wasn't Although I know the basics of sewing, my mother was one when she was younger, so I know little else about After trying it out yesterday, I found the machine to be better than I expected
4/5

As it is made of plastic, it isn't surprising, but with some care and protection while storing, it should last me a long time. You can keep your projects well illuminated with its light. It is light weight. As it has several stitches and functions (such as sewing buttons on and making button holes, more than I could possibly use), I find that it is very useful. The sewing mechanism is very smooth and very solid, and the instructions are clearly written and easy to understand. Yesterday, I used it for my little projects and it worked quite well. There is only one reason I didn't give 5 stars - the presser foot lever is plastic, and even with careful use I see the possibility of this breaking eventually. The following tips might be helpful The machine comes with plastic bobbins (which aren't going to be as precise a wind as steel), and the tension is a little loose - I did some work repairing heavy canvas pants for my husband, so I was thankful for the heavy duty needle I bought there. In all, I'm pleased with the purchase and am certain I will get a lot of use out of it for quite some time.

For a beginner, this is not the easiest task
3/5

Among the best features of this machine is how solid it is. I am not an expert by any means, but I understand my way around enough to use it. There was a problem with the tension of the bobbin, so I had to adjust it. A machine that unthreads itself is also easy to use. It is probably the pedal that is the worst part. Often, I have to apply quite a bit of pressure to tear the stitch, resulting in a sharp pain. The machine I bought was not what I would recommend and I plan on getting a new one that will suit my needs better when I have the budget.

My previous review of this sewing machine was less positive
5/5

This model is excellent. The Singer sewing machine class for this particular class finally appeared to me after trying for a really long time. In my opinion, the problems I felt might have been caused by my inability to get thread into the bobbin holder might be the cause of the machine's inability to work. It wasn't working for me to do the thread behind that, after watching the video, (as I was worried the thread would break and I put a lot of pressure downward into what appeared The threading of the machine was a simple task today while I was making a lot of clothing changes. This little machine is so simple and does the job well. I won't be afraid to invest in a heavier duty machine down the road if I decide to do so. It would be prudent to check out the video about the product if you're having issues. If you see the different markings on the machine, it can be confusing for someone to know A simple mechanical issue was also fixed with the bobbin feeding. It is highly recommended that you watch the In terms of what I was doing wrong, the booklet did not help me at all.
