It is light weight. As it has several stitches and functions (such as sewing buttons on and making button holes, more than I could possibly use), I find that it is very useful. The sewing mechanism is very smooth and very solid, and the instructions are clearly written and easy to understand. Yesterday, I used it for my little projects and it worked quite well. There is only one reason I didn't give 5 stars - the presser foot lever is plastic, and even with careful use I see the possibility of this breaking eventually. Among the best features of this machine is how solid it is. I am not an expert by any means, but I understand my way around enough to use it. There was a problem with the tension of the bobbin, so I had to adjust it. A machine that unthreads itself is also easy to use. It is probably the pedal that is the worst part. Often, I have to apply quite a bit of pressure to tear the stitch, resulting in a sharp pain. The machine I bought was not what I would recommend and I plan on getting a new one that will suit my needs better when I have the budget.

This model is excellent. The Singer sewing machine class for this particular class finally appeared to me after trying for a really long time. In my opinion, the problems I felt might have been caused by my inability to get thread into the bobbin holder might be the cause of the machine's inability to work.
