The quality of the product you get depends on the price. It had no automatic bobbin winder or anything, and I hadn't expected it to matter. The answer is yes. My sewing machine has a wound bobbin, and I don't like having to wind it. Throughout the 40 years I have owned this Viking, I may have used no more than eight stitches. Using this machine every day helps me make quilts! I can't imagine life without it! For the first time in my life I bought a new domestic sewing machine. I'd used a 1945 cast iron machine for over 50 years. had a hard time quilting on my old machine because it did not have a walking foot, which they did not make for machines in 1945. (By the way The machine I was given as a kid to learn on was the first one I had access to, and I could not afford to buy a new one.
