Blankets can be made on this loom, but I wouldn't recommend it! It did not work out that way at all haha. I originally bought it thinking I could make a small blanket with it. When you do the knitting, you will not get the four foot blanket that is expected. The loom itself measures just under two feet on each side, so you would expect it to make a four foot blanket. Due to the yarn contracting, the knitted product ends up far narrower than you would expect. It ends up no wider than two and a half feet long by however long you want to make it. Sadly, the one I made was too small so I couldn't even take it home with me.

It is made out of thick plastic with thick, thick edges. My knitting pegs have withstood my tendency to pull tight while I knit. I cannot use all of the pegs because one of them has no hole associated with it in the loom, so I can't fully utilize it. The plastic is soft and bends when you hold and work with it, and the pegs keep falling out. This was not something I would repurchase. Shop at a craft store if you want to buy one.
This is not the loom you want if you need a bigger one than what you can buy in a store. My initial impression was that this loom would be a more powerful one than what you can buy in the store. Spending money on a long loom when you already have one does not make sense. Plus, you can purchase a loom set for less money at Joann with a coupon.
In terms of strength, the XL offers less than average performance. This model is bent and its pegs fall out while it is in use. The yarn is designed for chunky yarn, but it has a softer hand than chunky yarn It weighs something.
The construction of this item is very cheap. It didn't occur to me until I entered a Hobby Lobby that I had the option of getting one that isn't self-cleaning The whole thing can be assembled for several dollars less. There are a lot of pegs that have to be manually placed, some of which are actually useless. We strongly discourage you from doing.
