Three eighths of an inch is the spacing between the pegs. You can use worsted weight yarn or thin yarn with it. It is possible to use thick yarn if you remove 'every other' peg.
It is a strand of hair. There are fewer strands of yarn in thinner yarn. There is a label on the wrapper that indicates the yarn weight.
When you are using 3/8, you may use #4 is the one I have used. If your yarn is thick, you can use it for 3/4. As I write this, I'm working on a baby blanket with #5.

I am very pleased with this loom. The pegs are removable and you can adjust the size of the loom. My son and his daughter-in-law are due to get married next Christmas, so I am now on a yarn buying spree and handmaking a new blanket for them. The loom knitting book is a must-have for anyone who loves loom knitting.
The main disadvantage of this loom is that it is very difficult to do double knitting with. The middle of the loom bows together easily, which makes it hard for the project to fit out of the other side. As a gift for my sister, I bought it and she was very disappointed, so I am very upset about it.
The wife is using it now and is pleased with it, and it can do all that she wants to do with it.
The loom arrived today, and I am very pleased with the quality. There are many KB looms in my collection. Several of my favorite products from their discontinued Adjustable Hat Loom series are very similar to this one. Although I had one disappointment (that does not affect my rating since it is an Amazon issue and not a KB issue) A plain brown shipping box with instructions and all pieces was all I got with my loom. It came without any packaging except the pieces and instruction manual. Most of my looms are stored in their original packaging to keep them clean and in case of damage, but this isn't a big enough issue to need Giving this item as a gift, I would not have been able to do this.
Making a larger afghan on a round loom by graduating from the round loom The size is great and it lets you choose the color as well. However, I marked down a little on ergonomics because it is rather hard to handle. Unfortunately there is no method for adjusting a loom's size, lol, so it's not their fault. However, I think it could be done with curves, so that it might be extremely loopy. This item is very useful, is easy to use, and is very A fine loom requires pegs sized just right. I would not recommend this if you plan on knitting this with fat bulky yarn.
There are a lot of looms from this collection that are made really well and are easy to work with, way better than any of the previous ones I've used such as the Martha Stewart loom. My Christmas list is on its way to being completed.
Since this year, I have been learning how to make loonm knitting. My round looms provided fabric for making a few hats and scarves. I built the afghan pictured in the photo and am now ready to move on to another material. I love how easy it is to use this loom. I just have to turn the loom now. The pegs are sturdy, but I have to get them to work. The second blanket I have made is almost complete, and there are two more awaiting my attention.
I have pretty much all plastic looms on the market, and I would highly recommend this one to anyone, regardless of their skill level. It's sturdy, easy to use, and is much easier to store. I love the darker color of the additional pegs.
