There is no clay, and all it needs is a good wipe down as you would with any rubber or plastic product. The shaft is different than I'm used to, so I'm using my old set but these are nice to have!
As far as I can tell, there is no brand name
So far, I have not needed to clean my handles since they are in a case, but since they are made of polymer clay, I suppose a cloth with clorox would work fine.

This presentation wasn't that great, which disappointed me since I was really excited about them. This is 1. Each one has seams in the clay, but some are more evident A moment's notice could be all it takes for them to fall apart. 1. 2. 2) Two of the hooks came bent 3. 1) The clay around the tops of the hooks isn't centered and you can see the "core" color of clay that was used before the canes were inserted. Item 4. The clay has weird flat areas. On purpose, and not where you might expect it to be. When holding knife wise, the flat areas don't quite line up with where your thumb would land, so with a little bit of practice you'll be able to hold it comfortably. It's kinda strange how lumpy they are as well. I just expected a better presentation. Although the hooks will work for their intended purpose, it might be a little better. I've worked with polymer clay in the past, and I know it can be difficult to work with. However, these are simple fixes. While I give it an A for effort, I would definitely have some quality control measures in place as soon as the product is marketed.
There is something to be said about these hooks. They glide through the yarn very nicely, and I like how comfortable the grip is.

The smallest size left me feeling a little off. I gave this four stars instead of five. My intuition told me several times that it was broken.
