Fabric is used for the exterior. Each pocket comes with a velcro closure and is covered with a thin nylon type fabric. Honestly, I like mine a lot. The circulars range from 12" to 36" in size and are kept in this case. (Not zippered) The pockets are held closed with Velcro instead of zippers. It has been several months since I purchased it and I'm very happy with it so far.
Though I think it would be a good idea, a special needle case might have satisfied your needs better. A circular needle case like this is best suited for standard needles by size. Because of the type of pockets inside, one can store needles in them. There is a small Velcro closure on each pocket, but the pockets cannot be fully closed. An internal zip pocket is present in the case.

It has an extra pocket that has a zipper on the outside. The main zipper is a bit sluggish and becomes jammed once multiple needles are inserted in the pockets. There is a Velcro patch to close each pocket and the side of the pouch. Each pocket is labeled with a size. In order for the Velcro to catch and close, you have to put the two pieces together just right. In case of a larger needle size, it is more difficult to close the pocket without the needle ending shooting out before it is closed. A left side pocket accommodates needles in sizes 1 to 8 but there is no compartment for needles in larger sizes. I have 7 pockets and a CG (ChiaoGoo) pocket. The right side of this case has individual pockets ranging in size from 8 to 12 CG is a pocket with a label of 15 and an additional pocket. As soon as you put the larger needles in the right side, the case is hard to zip up. With all of the pockets on both sides full, the case is not deep enough to zip. The CG pockets that were occupied by needles size 17 and 19 had to be removed, as well. They would have been unable to zip the case with either of them inside. It has a very nice fabric, good zipper pulls, but it is not deep enough to fill all the pockets or to use Velcro to lock the individual pockets on either side of the bag. It is worth noting that the ChiaoGoo red cable circular knitting needles are the best needles out there. I am sorry the needles weren't as great as the case.

According to the description, the item had "Velcro" fasteners, but none of them were visible on the product. There were pieces of loose fabric on the divides for the needle sizes that fell out of one of the ends once you opened the case. I find this to be incredibly.
ChiaoGoo is the only brand I use, and I am delighted to have my fixed circulars in a matching case. We love the velcro closure on the fabric pockets. My crochet hooks now have two of the smaller ones two more are on the way. It looks so nice in the bag a friend made for me.
Initially, I was excited to get this in order to organize and store my circular needles, but I had to return it because the zipper was so difficult to go around corners, and no velcro would secure the needles to the bag. A few flaps were all there was.
It's safe to assume it's high quality if it has Chiaogoo on it. Circular needle cases are well made and this case can hold several pairs of them. Several pockets are inside and are secured with small Velcro tabs. There are a lot of circulars in here (and I have a lot of those) and it zips shut without making any effort. As a result of this case, I am glad that I invested.
As nice as the red lace case that comes with the pack, but I'm nowhere near completing the filling process and it already doesn't look like it will fit. If it were just a bit deeper, the zipper would function nicely and more items could be stored.
This cost me $30! I can't believe I bought It would've been better to trust my gut and get a Dellaq product. Today's product is beautifully made, no doubt about it, and it's a quality product, but why would I use it if I couldn't secure my circ needles? The flimsy flaps that separate each size are nothing more than simply there to keep them together or separate, they just shift around when you close up the case, it's a frustrating design. My frustration level is so high. The needles are too anal for me to just live with it and this would be fine, but I am concerned about not losing any needles. There is some curlyness to those circles, and they like to flop. There is no place in the case to keep them contained and in their designated spot! A big grrrrr! What's the deal with Velcro enclosures? I don't know what all these other people are talking about? There is none in mine!.
