had heard about ball winders, but I wasn't willing to dedicate space to an item so big based on the purpose for which it was to be used. The main thing I need to do is tighten up the last half or so of the skeins or prepare a cone of cotton to knit from easier. My favorite way of making center pull balls used to be a paper towel roll, but it almost always felt like there was more yarn in the ball than I could have fitted inside. You can solve that problem with this, and it is durable as well. I can wind a much larger ball before it becomes too unwieldy to manage with this, since it has a dedicated handle. It's not possible to tie a loose knot in one of the grooves, but I find that tying a loose knot in one of them works fine. Unless you have too much pain in your hands to grip thin or small objects, I can't think of a reason not to buy this.

When I was looking for special wooden needles, I accidentally came across this item. It intrigued me so I researched it online and learned about a nostepinne. You can use this tool to wind a ball of yarn from a skein and have the yarn pull from the center of the ball. The yarn will not fall off my lap or my kitten will not drag it under the furniture. I can wind my yarn, put it in my bowl, and knit away without being concerned about it falling off my lap.

My wife finds this diameter to be a little smaller than what she is used to, but it is perfectly acceptable. This is a smooth and very usable program. As her old one spun into the vortex, the new one vanished.

I enjoy holding the Nostepinne, as it's beautiful and feels good This yarn has a smooth finish so winding it is a delight. There was a spiral of tape around the length of the wood so it was difficult to unwrap it since it came tightly wrapped in paper. For the finish to remain intact, I had to be very careful when cutting it. There would be no problem with a little bit of tape at the top and bottom.

Although this is a decent nostepinne for the price, it doesn't stand out very strongly in terms of I noticed that the yarn was snagging whenever I was using it within a few days. I find that the more I use it, the more flaws Why is the finish fading? Is it the result of wear and tear on the finishing coat? It has been much better since I had a friend sand it down and refinish it. To those who are on the fence about a nostepinne vs a mechanical winder, here's what we'd recommend Due to my crocheting, I prefer to wind on a nostepinne. My yarns have more twist when we hand wind them, so I can counterbalance the unbalance before it becomes a problem The yarn twisted when it was spun - It's over now.

I like the piece very much. A nice piece of wood made well. Rosewood is one of my favorite woods. The rosewood I used had no smell, though that's not uncommon. A winding tool like this one makes yarn winding fun. It is easy to pick up the tool and start using it right away because of hundreds of YouTube videos on how to use a Nostepinne. You can get a little enjoyment out of a dull task. The purchase was a good one.
