Questions & Answers

How simple is it to assemble this machine?

1 hour or less assembly instructions,br>First, make sure you have a drill, hammer, and wrenchbr>In the drawer, you'll find all the necessary hardware,br>14 bolts for the legs,br>2 small bolts for the pedal,br>Set of 2 long brackets for the 2 legs,br>Set of 2 small brackets for the bottom brace,br>Set of 2 L brackets for the pedal,br>4 pcs The table may have been pre-drilled for the motor depending on your machine. If that's the case, simply align the motor mount with the table's holes. If your table was not pre-drilled for the motor, simply mark the mounting holes and use a 3/8′′ drill to drill three mounting holes. Before drilling the mounting holes, make sure your belt pulley is centered with the cutout on the table. Tighten down the motor mount to the table using the long bolts that came with your motor. br>Step 2: Connecting the On/Off Switch Boxbr>If you're using a servo motor, you might not need to do this step! The switch could be incorporated into the motor's front. br>Take measurements over a 10-minute period. Place the on/off switch box 1/2′′ from the front right corner of the table and screw it to the table. br>Fasten the wire from the switch box to the motor in the same manner as shown in the diagram. br>Step 3 Leg Assemblybr>To assemble the legs for the stand, measure 29 inches from the top of the leg to the bottom. 1/4" tall (7 lines from the top)br>When you're done putting the stand together, you'll have a table that's about 31 inches tall. This is the standard height at which we construct all of our stands. Attach the bottom (smaller) brace to the legs and the cross (wider) brace to the back of the legs. br>Step 4: Attaching Legs to Table Topbr>Assemble the legs and place them on top of the table as shown. br>After that, attach the legs to the table top, making sure they are centered front to back in the stand.br>Lastly, attach the treadle (motor pedal) to the bottom cross brace, centered over the motor, as shown in the picture below. br>Connect the treadle rod to the motor's arm with the treadle rod. br>Some stands may or may not include a plastic drawer where extra bobbins, needles, scissors, or tools can be stored. To attach the drawer to the table top, center it on the longer side opposite the motor and use the included side mounting rails. br>Assemble the stand by connecting the two thread stand posts with the coupling, then adding the thread stand arms and attaching the thread stand cone platforms to the arms. br>Step 7: Installing Your Machine in the Stand.br>Depending on your machine, you may need to use small finishing nails to attach small rubber or felt cushions to the table. Attach the machine's metal head hinges to the back of the machine and wrap the belt around the machine's belt. Place the machine in the cutout and tilt it back to wrap the belt around the motor pulley. When the belt is pressed in on itself, there should be about an inch of space between the belt and itself to properly adjust the tension. If the belt is too tight, adjust the motor bracket to raise the height of the motor; if the belt is too loose, adjust the motor bracket to lower the height of the motor.

Is it possible to use this machine on delicate fabrics?

It does a decent job. I've sewn silk and superlight poly with no problems, but if you're going to sew a lot of delicates, I'd recommend switching to nylon feed dogs. If you aren't careful, the factory ones will eat your fabric.

Is it possible to use this machine to sew multiple layers of leather and to upholster a car?

Without a doubt. This is an 8700H with a servo motor (servo motors allow for variable speeds). It has a more powerful motor that's designed to work with multiple layers of leather. The 8700 model is for lighter leather and has a less powerful motor than the 8700H.

Selected User Reviews For Juki DDL-8700-H Industrial Straight Stitch Sewing Machine, K.D table & Servo Motor DIY

The machine performs admirably and has a significant amount of power
3/5

It's a five-star machine, but the description is slightly misleading, as I'll explain later. br>It took me 2 1/2 hours to put this together, with a special thanks to the city sewing YouTube channel. The machine performs admirably and has a significant amount of power. The servo motor also makes it quiet. br>br>I have a problem.
1. As stated in the description, there is no LED light provided.
2. A step attachment to connect the rod to the motor is missing.
3. Only one of the two bobbins mentioned in the description was received.
4. Of the three needles listed in the description, only one was received.

Are you looking for something more industrial? No! I've been an auto upholsterer for over 27 years, and I've been using a result that is older than I am
3/5

I was in the market for a new machine, so I purchased this one. It's not right for me; the stitch is adjustable, but when top stitching, it's too tight, making it difficult to keep a straight line; I bought a zipper foot for it, but it didn't work at all. Not for upholstery, but for blankets and tarps, this machine would be ideal. It also won't take pre-spooled bobbins, of which I have a thousand.

It's an incredible machine; it's my first industrial machine, and I'm completely blown away
5/5

Despite the fact that I wish it came with a manual, I was able to set it up in three days thanks to YouTube. It's a fantastic machine that performs admirably.

The package was damaged upon arrival
3/5

I really like the machine; I used to sew with an older Juki Industrial with a clutch motor, but this servo motor is much better. In my opinion, there is nothing better than a Juki, and I have been using them exclusively for years. Unfortunately, a large chunk of my table was missing when it arrived, but the box was undamaged, which was unusual. To get it nice and smooth, I sanded it, filled it with compound, sanded it again, and so on. I was extremely disappointed.

I have yet to receive my machine, but I am hoping that it will arrive in good working order
3/5

I couldn't wait to get my first machine until it arrived. I easily assemble my table after opening the first box. br>However, I proceeded to open the second box, which contained my motor. The motor was CRACKED, and I'm so disappointed that I have to return it for a new one. I'm still waiting for a response to my exchange request, and I haven't received my machine yet, but I'm hoping it will be in good working order when it arrives. If I don't hear back in six hours, I'll post a picture of the motor.

a user guide First and foremost, I have been unable to use the machine because the hand lift is malfunctioning
3/5

2nd. The feed plate will not be touched by the pressure foot. Third, there was no instruction manual that explained how to assemble this machine. 4th. There are no pictures of the parts to help you figure out what they are. Right now, I'm perplexed and angry, and I'm not having a good time. I've got springs, but I'm not sure where they're supposed to go. For the past 51 years, I've been sewing leather and suede. I have an old Singer consew with a walking foot that I would like to sell. Pfaff and an old juki. I felt the need for a new machine, and I was able to obtain one that was not up to par. I'm not going to sew on it right now.

I've been looking for something like this for a while
4/5

I've been looking for something like this for a while. In comparison to the older models I used to use, it is extremely quiet. When I first opened the boxes and saw all of the parts, I was a little intimidated. But I was able to put it together thanks to YouTube and Sew City videos.
