Questions & Answers

Does the table need to be included?

It is true. There is a storage drawer, thread stand, and a very quiet servo motor included with this unit.

In what way do DDLs differ from FDLIs A description and a comparison of the DDL-5550 Why 7700?

My name is Donna and I am here to help you. Prior to ordering the DDL, I also had the same question After sending an email to Juki America Inc., I discovered the answer to my question. In response to a question (just so you can listen to it as it came from the horses mouth), she responded, "That is correct. The DDL8700 is made in China while the DDL5550N is made in Japan. In essence, that's the only difference in the machine." Kind regards, Janet Manager, Sales Assistant - Magana Industry & Infrastructure - North America Division of Juki America, Inc. that specializes in home sewing. I asked myself, if there is such a difference in price, does it mean there will be a difference in quality? The 5550 is the one I chose and I'm not sorry I did. During my Army service, I worked with Chinese made machines to repair parachutes, and maybe we just had some bad ones, but I constantly adjusted them to keep them flying. The screw in this one has yet to be touched with a screwdriver. When using machines like this, you should reduce the servo motor (if you're not used to them). There is no going back to regular home machines for many people after they have used this.

When free motion quilting, must the feed dogs be lowered?

There is a way to do it. It is necessary to tilt the machine away from you in order to access the screw for feeding the When you loosen the screw, the bolts will fall down, and then you can tighten the screw back up. One problem is that you can't just put them up until they reach their maximum height when you want to put them back up. When the needle plate is pressed downward, the valley of each tooth should be lined up with the top of the needle plate. So, Joyce was right when she said the machine is no frills, but the task can still be accomplished. You only need to have some prior experience to use these machines.

Does industrial thread need to be purchased?

The thread does not have to be industrial. The thread we ran through it is plain Coates and Clarkes dual purpose thread. All you need to do is adjust the tension. In most cases, thread thickness should be based on needle size, and needle size should be based loosely on fabric type, thickness, as well as A size 16-inch shoe would be suitable You will probably need a thread that is around size 69 for an 18 needle. This item comes in a size 14-inch Using 16 needles (which is what this machine comes with) should result in thread that is approximately 33 mm in diameter. Industrial thread is simply easier for me to use since it is standardized in strength and size where the normal thread on the home machine is not. In general, you can use pretty much any thread you like. You may just encounter some issues with feeding and locking if your thread is The Thread Exchange is a great resource for industrial thread and information about that thread. You can easily find it on the web.

The machine would be a good choice for the home
5/5

Now that the machine has been with us for a year and a few months, it has been very reliable. The Army assigned me to be a parachutist for 3 years, and one of the jobs on which we relied was repairing parachutes using 'light duty' machines like Earlier machines such as this one are similar to Brother, Singer, Consew and Consew, and all serve the same function. The Juki that I ordered here is my favorite machine among all those listed. Despite the fact that these are more than ten years older than the ones we used in the Army, they always ran more smoothly than this one did even after we adjusted and repaired them. If you are looking for a machine that does zig-zag work, you can find it here Any stitch other than a straight stitch or even zigzag stitches is not compatible with this machine. I'm only showing you a straight stitch, but I'll tell you a little about it. One of the best straight stitches that you can get is this one. Having one at home will prevent you from ever turning back to your little home machine ever again for things like quilting and other projects that require straight stitching. It was not a deal-breaker for me since I have been using industrial machines for quite some time, but for my wife it It was very easy for her to get used to a servo motor since the motor was turned down for her (one more advantage of a servo motor). Now that she uses the new machine she hates to use the old plastic one. I think this is such a great one. Please post any questions you have about the machine as you normally would on this page, and I'll reply to them as best as I can, but please also read the questions that have been posted so far, like where it's.

The freight company isn't so good, but the machine is really great
5/5

I loved the machine. I found that the motor sews at any speed from really slow to really fast. There were a few things that did not sit well with me concerning There were no signs of them when they were supposed to arrive. We rescheduled for the next day, and they showed up. They didn't call 1/2 hour before they arrived as expected, but they showed up. As a result, they dumped the machine on the garage pad, even though my email stated that Amazon had delivered the machine. Within the house's perimeter, which means just inside the front door. I was told that I had to pay extra for threshold delivery because my basic delivery was free. It was still able to make it into the house, even though it was a bit heavy. It was only when I removed the plastic wrap from the spool stand around the horizontal brace of the table that I discovered that brace had been bent toward the front of the machine by might have only been bent by an electric forklift since it's a solid piece of However, it is not really a problem for the operation of either the table or machine. I know this is probably not the right place for me to complain about the freight company, but they were a very important part of the overall process.

This wonderful machine is ideal for hobbyists as well as professionals
5/5

It would normally be unnerving to buy such a large machine without first testing it out, but at the sewing studio I go to I have used a very similar model and it is a wonderful machine. This particular model is made in Japan, while Since it is Japanese made, I felt I could not go wrong by purchasing it for an additional $100. As a result of this, I specifically chose to purchase this from Amazon because it arrived fully assembled at no extra cost (a lot of other online retailers charge you extra for assembled machines). It has so many little components that I didn't want to bother assembling it myself. I am well versed in working with wood, but I'm not a master craftsman. A pallet is provided, and it is heavy. You should hire help to move it as it comes on a pallet. Moving it upstairs to my sewing room was the job of some movers. Plug it in afterwards and you're good to go--just screw on the thread holder, add oil and you're done. I am ready to sew it! Furthermore, a pack of needles, a bobbin, a bobbin case, two screwdrivers, and oil are included with the kit. There are only one bobbin and one presser foot included with it, so I bought extras. There are instructions that come with it, but I did a quick search online and discovered a number of very useful tutorials that explain you've got the hang of it, this machine is much easier than a home machine to use. As far as performance goes, this is the best out there. Despite its thick fabric capacity, the sewing machine sews over thick layers without As I am currently sewing a historically accurate Renaissance gown with lots of fabrics and trim, it requires multiple layers of fabric. There are no concerns with this machine because it simply zips through it. The motor is adjustable so you can turn it on low until you feel more comfortable using it. It is extremely quiet and has an adjustable speed motor. This machine includes a built-in bobbin winder as well as other great features The automatic stop will happen once it reaches the full capacity, so you don't have to worry about it while you sew. If you're a hobby sewer like me, you might wonder if you need a machine like mine. The answer is that you probably don't NEED a machine like mine, but it sure does make sewing more enjoyable. When compared to high-end alternatives, this machine is much more affordable The reality is that home machines like Bernina or Pfaff are more expensive. This machine has the caveat that it can only stitch one thing at a time The straight-up way This machine does it more efficiently than any other machine at home. On my home machine, I can't even remember the last time I used a stitch other than straight. My Singer home machine was just in case I ever wanted to do a fancy stitch, but now that I have the Juki, I don't think I'll use it as often. The machine had made sewing a joy and not a frustration for me. It's made me plan a lot more projects now!.

I ordered this machine for the second time today
3/5

It is missing a part. We had a good experience with the first two orders we ordered. The needle thread guide pin had not been installed on one of the machines. If we were to send back the whole machine, it would be more advantageous to just get the part than send the whole machine back. However, for this price I would prefer the whole.

I really like the smoothness and quietness of it! It is so beautiful how straight the stitches are! It is definitely worth every penny that you pay for this machine. Exactly what I was looking for! I'm so happy I purchased it!.
