I'm pretty sure I haven't needed it yet.
It is determined by the ring's size. In the case of small, I would say no. This is primarily used for bending and holding onto bent wire. With two needle nose pliers, it's easier to open and close jumper rings.

The nylon pads were pressed on and will fall off over time. Pads will also not meet flat, causing a piece to be held incorrectly. I intended to use these for photo etching rather than jewelry making.
I wire weave and wrap my jewelry with wire. This tool works great, and the head on it appears to last longer than the nylon heads on my much more expensive tool, which are no longer functional. It's worth noting that the wire is not as slick as nylon. But, in exchange for a more durable surface, I'll accept it.
I'm using it to remove arrows from a target without damaging them. The issue, in my opinion, is a lack of grip. The pliers have very tough nylon jaws. They don't have a good grip on the arrows. If that's what you're looking for, however, this could be the product for you.
I bought these to pinch quilled circles because pinching multiple paper circles can be painful for me because I have arthritis in my fingers. These worked perfectly and didn't leave any marks on the paper after they were pinched. It's a small tool that's easy to work with. That's exactly what I needed for my project.
The tips aren't replaceable, and they don't open wide enough to do the job properly.
I was really looking forward to these. They wouldn't scratch the chainmail, so I thought they'd be ideal for working with it. Unfortunately, the springs aren't the best, so working with one in each hand is a pain due to the fact that they don't open and close smoothly. They're also very slippery, so instead of closing the jump rings smoothly, they keep sliding off as I try to do so. They're also far too large. It's not a good match for me.
Apart from the spring pieces being loose in the handles and slid back and not connecting, these are excellent pliers. I dragged them forward with another pair of pliers; they're holding up so far, but they're a little loose under the grip and don't feel great. br>These spring handles have obvious quality issues, and the springs themselves are extremely weak. Almost impossible to open.
Some glasses are too big to use.
