Questions & Answers

I'd like to see a video of someone using it. Who's up for it?

There is a video on YouTube. Look up "box sizer tool" and you'll come across a video by Bubblefast.

Is this simply lowering the box's height?

No, not at all. br>After perforating them, I cut them to height. It's a lot easier to cut.

What is the best place to look for a new blade?

It is more of a puncture wheel than a blade. But the whole thing is so cheap that if it breaks after a long period of use, I'll just buy another.

Is this 13" tool capable of reducing a 25" x 25" box to a 24" x 24" size?

Yes, but it only works on the open top, not all three sides, so you're only cutting flaps down 1" and ending up with a 25 x 25 x 24 high box.

GET A BOX SIZER IF YOU SHIP MORE THAN TWO ITEMS PER WEEK AND ONE OF THEM IS LARGE
5/5

I have a lot of large items to ship, so I usually start with a box that's bigger than the item. Because my seams were wonky and my cuts were all over the place, my boxes used to look like someone had punched them and slapped tape on them in random places. And the worst part is that I probably spent an HOUR or more making this box, and it turned out to be TERRIBLE. I included apologies with the boxes because they were so unattractive. br>br>You'll save a lot of time by reducing the size of your boxes, and they'll look better and last longer because your folds and cuts will be straighter. SO MUCH TIME SAVED, to be honest. Don't get me wrong: if you're not paying attention, you can still go crooked with this, but it's a lot easier to do so.

This was something I was going to make up
5/5

This is an interesting idea. You still have to keep the guide flat on the box, which requires a little more concentration than I'd prefer. But it's not a big deal. It's a lot better than shaving with a razor, which I've been doing for a long time. This is something I was planning on inventing, but it has already been done. br>br>***I'm returning four years later to tell you in 2021 that it's still holding up fine, though I did have to replace the thumbscrew that tightens the size adjustment because the threads had pulled away from it. Because it's metric thread, I had to look for it. But, thanks to the new thumbscrew, the tool could be saved. This is a fantastic tool!.

It is less expensive to ship
5/5

The first time I used it, it more than paid for itself. I needed a box to send a customer an item that measured approximately 16" x 10" x 6. " I only had one box, and it was about a foot and a half too short. Cutting extra material off the flaps shaved off enough actual weight to get the box under the next pound increment, and using this tool made cutting the box down to get out of dimensional weight size easy. There was no need for me to spend money on dunnage. br>br>Easy to use and a must-have for anyone who ships frequently. Set the sliding adjustment, score the interior of the box, and slit the inside corners with a utility knife. Fold the flaps in half, trim the excess, and you're finished!.

The first time I used it, it broke
4/5

Despite this, it can still be used. I used to work for a company that specialized in packaging, shipping, and receiving, and I was introduced to this tool for resizing boxes. I now work in a different setting, but I still have to deal with boxes and the need to resize them. br>br>The first time I used it, I dropped it on the concrete floor of my office, and the spur's plastic bracket broke. However, I could still be used. However, I noticed that half way through serrating the box, the spur's screw becomes loose. I can, however, tighten it with just my fingers. Also, the plastic that goes into the metal shaft pulls out, resulting in a 1 to 1 ratio. From one side of the box to the other, there is a 5 inch difference in height. br>br>I'll upload photos as soon as I can.

It wasn't quite what I had hoped for, but it wasn't bad either
3/5

It's just ok, nothing to get excited about. It does exactly what it claims to do and nothing more, which is fine, but a five-star rating? No. A product receiving five stars is considered to be on the verge of being a game changer. It's the equivalent of purchasing a ruler that comes with a boot spur. So it's worth $15, but it's not groundbreaking in any way. Furthermore, it only resizes a box from top to bottom, not from side to side, which means you're stuck with the length of the box you have, which is a bummer but it wasn't too expensive. br>Not a necessity.

and made the decision to purchase a replacement - The fact that the measurements were printed on the was appealing to me
3/5

I've had a box sizer for a long time and recently decided to replace it - The fact that the measurements were on the side allowed for a more precise form was appealing to me. After only a few uses, the scoring wheel began to lock up while in use. I was forced to come to an end. loosen the screw that holds the wheel in place and it would work for a few times before locking up again. I'm not sure what caused it, but it was past due for a return, so I erroneously assumed it was defective and placed another order. That's exactly what the new one did! I'm not sure why, but I won't be ordering anything else in the future. br>I'm going back to using ol' dependable, which I've been using for the past 15 years! I wish I could recall where I purchased it!.

THIS IS ACTUALLY USEFUL! THIS IS ACTUALLY USEFUL! Over the years, we've bought a lot of fandangos for various jobs, and most of them are sitting on the shelf because they're more trouble than they're worth
5/5

This device, which has earned the moniker "the cutter- Around the shop, the "downer" is simple to use and does an excellent job. All that's required is this tool and a razor knife to get the job done quickly. Boxes can be easily cut down to fit the item being shipped while still looking professional. br>br>This tool appears to be well-made, and I anticipate it lasting a long time. This is a device that will not let you down.

It wasn't exactly what I had hoped for
4/5

This is a good product, but I was expecting it to press a crease into the cardboard from both sides, creating a fold line without damaging the material surface, based on the photo showing something extending over the back edge of the box top and the limited description. Instead, it's just a perforation wheel with a guide, and I rarely get a straight fold out of it, probably because I don't press hard enough. If you cut further down than you want to fold and then perforate above it (so the tool can go past the adjacent edge of the box), it won't get all the way into the corners. There is a limit to how close the wheel can get to the guide if you only want to resize your box by a small amount; I've had to freehand a few where I only needed to take an inch off. br>br>I ship books, which necessitates the use of heavy boxes, even if they are small. As a result, it appears that causing damage to the box material is a bad idea. That's why I ditched my utility knife in favor of this. br>br>Anyway, it gets four stars because it's the only option and it's a huge improvement over a utility knife and a ruler. I'm glad I purchased it; however, it fell short of my expectations.
