I LEARNED THE HARD WAY, ORDERING THREE CUSTOM MADE RINGS WITH THESE MEASUREMENT RINGS, ALL OF WHICH WERE THE WRONG SIZE! Yesterday, I went to a jeweler in the United States to confirm (I live in Mexico), and yes, they are all half or full sizes off. I didn't read the reviews because I was only interested in the five stars, so I assumed it was a good product. Never again. I'd finally figured out what I needed to know. Please remove this item from Amazon before anyone else buys it and has a bad experience.
As measured by my new PepeTools Ultra Precision Steel Ring Mandrel, almost all of the gauges are about 1/2 a size off, with some being a full size off. All of these gauges appear to be cast metal with a molding flange that hasn't been trimmed inside every one, reducing the inside diameter and scratching your finger when you try to use any of them. Because you can't get an accurate measurement with any of the gauges due to these flaws, this item is worthless.
This is fairly close to my ring size (8. 5). br>br>For anyone else who is new to wearing a ring: Keep in mind that this is a comfort fit ring gauge (the inside is slightly rounded). Only that type of ring will be sized by this machine. If you want a classic ring fit (flat on the inside), you'll need a set of ring sizers that are completely flat on the inside, which makes a huge difference. br>br>The amount of swelling in my fingers during the day surprised me. My ring finger goes from a size 8 to a size 10. 0 to 9. At any point in time, there is a value of 0 in the equation. Using size 5 resulted in a size that will not fall off accidentally unless I use soap and water. Many online ring sellers will advise you to order multiple sizes before placing your order.
This was purchased to help size my fiancé's wedding band - It's less expensive than driving to a jewelry store, and you can try on different sizes at different times of day/temp/etc without having to deal with pushy salespeople (mention "wedding" in a jewelry store, and you'll feel like a walking dollar sign).
