It is fragile, so probably not.

Is it possible to hang this behind a gas grill to prevent siding from getting hot?

It's likely that you can. To protect my TV, which is right above the gas fireplace on my porch, I hang my over the top of the gas I can keep my TV cool by using this! It keeps the heat down and keeps the heat down!

If flagstone is applied to this material, can it be affixed to it vertically? It is to be used behind a wood burning stove and flagstone will be laid on top of it for looking good. ?

Before putting it down, I would place a layer of cement board like what you would use under tiles
