Is it necessary to use a digitizer on this before using it?

After you've installed the fiber, you should use a rigidizer. I'm using my fiber to make a raku kiln, and the rigidizer helps to keep the fibers sealed so you don't inhale them. When working with the fiber, you should use a mask to keep loose fibers out of your eyes, as well as eye protection. For more information, it's also a good idea to contact the Simond store. They do have rigidizer on hand.

Is this suitable for use in a wood-burning stove?

You can use this, but we recommend that you use ceramic fiber board instead.
