Several of the beads had obstructions that the beading needle could not pass through, and the needle itself is extremely fragile; if you try to use a three-dimensional beading needle, make sure your fingers are directly opposed to each other. If you use your finger to pull the needle through, it will break. The instructions are in Chinese and are poorly illustrated, but there is plenty of information available on video websites, so this is not a major flaw. After you've used this loom a few times, I strongly advise you to look into a peyote weave, which does not require the use of a loom. In addition, I recommend using a saucer or a shallow bowl for each color bead you plan to use. You will be able to load your needle much more easily if you scoop horizontally through the beads rather than trying to pick them up from the delivery case.
The idea of loom beating for new beaders appeals to me. Within an hour, I was able to get my daughter started beading and beatboxing. What I didn't like about the instructions was that they were all written in Japanese or Chinese characters. I had to make educated guesses before teaching my daughter how to use it. I was under the impression that some beating patterns would be included, but those were mostly useless beings because you can't read the instructions unless you can see what's going on. The instructions were written on two notebook-size sheets with very small writing and even smaller pictures.
It just so happened that ALL of the directions were in Japanese or Chinese nether language, which I understand. As a result, understanding how the contraption works is extremely difficult (for a beginner).
I love how simple it is to use.
It was well received by my granddaughter. Because the beads are so small, you'll need a steady hand.
It appears to be twisted in some ways. However, it continues to function as it should. I'll do my best to make it straight.
Beads are fairly uniform in size and shape, and they can be used in a variety of ways.
Perfect for beginners, but instructions would have been helpful.
