This smaller version of the Jewel Loom has the potential to make beaded pendants, which I like. I purchased it, however, in order to experiment with making small tapestries. It's also effective. I also use mine to sample for weaving and am pleased to learn that it can be used for beading as well. It's long-lasting and easy to transport. Just remember to bring your weaving materials!.
I thought it was a good idea to have the pre-recorded music ready to go. So I tried out the curved jewel loom, but it's a little too small for me. For an adjustable bracelet, I like to use nylon cord and 5 inch strips of beads, then finish with a sliding knot. It was difficult to work the first few rows with so little space beneath because the work area is only about 5 inches wide. I'm going to stick with the standard jewel loom size.
It's a lot of fun to use, but the instructions call for 26g wire. I'd recommend looking for a you tube that uses needle and beading thread instead. Also, the instructions aren't very clear, and there's no indication of what size beads to use. Artbeads. com's learning center is likely to have a video.
Even with my small hands, it is challenging to operate.
I like to take this small loom with me when I travel because it is compact and easy to pack and carry.
Small projects, such as pendants and earrings, are ideal for this loom. Because of its size, there is a lot less cord waste.
I haven't used it yet, but the material appears to be of good quality, so I'm glad I bought it. This pattern will be used once I find the right one.
