don't have this product, but in general, you should not hit an anvil (or something like this) with your hammer. In the same vein, even if the block is properly hardened, hardening of the hammer can happen (this is how blacksmith anvils harden). If you are working on metal, make sure that whatever you are working on is between the hammer and block when you hit it. As I mentioned earlier, I don't own this product and I am not sure what you use it for, but hopefully this provides some help.
The steel block is solid to my eye, I really like it.
In order to prevent rust during shipping, this item is packaged in oil.
The one I have been using is for hardening jewelry wire. A solid steel square, somewhat larger than a coaster, is all that's required. It might be able to hold up to the sledgehammer, but I'm not sure if it's the right tool for what you're seeking. It is my sincere hope that this will help.

If I could I would rate it as 5 Stars. This is a very well made product. It is of top-notch quality in terms of machining and finishing. I have only one negative.
It's a little smaller than the advertised size.
5 Is it affecting my use if the dimensions are not 6x6x3/4*? Not at all. There is a good chance I will buy However, machined items should always be listed in their absolute size. When they are not, they will be characterized as false.
I found it with a hole on one side when I bought It did get dented from chasing a hammer first time I used it, but I decided to keep it to use on the other side. With dead soft copper wire, I used it with a chasing hammer and it also You may have flattened a 20g dead soft copper wire with hammering it into a flat shape knowing it does not take that much force to do it. It's not stainless steel or hard steel, but I don't know what it is made of.
My use of this tool is to hammer copper rivets, and I am very satisfied with it. There is not enough room to work at an awkward angle, but it is large enough to give you a solid grounding, yet it is small enough to be simple to maneuver. Moreover, there is something very pleasing about the visual aesthetics of the little rectangles of A light oil coat was applied to it prior to my use, which I removed with a paper towel so the oil wouldn't stain the leather I was working with I recommend you keep it lightly oil Jojoba oil works well for steel, but mineral oil is also likely to do the trick. As this one does not come with a rubber foot, I have been using a silicone potholder to provide a sturdy, non-slip foot I've also tried a nonslip base, and it works just fine.
I don't think there's much to this. A precision edge and a perfect cut make this item stand out. Yet it will be stained in the very core of the Using a slightly abrasive sponge is the only way to remove the stains While this is steel, it is going to The oil will also be not that oily, but it will be It is best to clean it outside before throwing out the rag. You can then wash your hands and throw it away. Is anyone aware of the type of oil Cleaning and small scratches might be enough to make a solid paperweight, so think about that before buying. My holder comes with a magnetic LED light attached to it. Since the light is so heavy, it doesn't tip over and stays in place when I place Oh yeah, and if you are going to use it on a nice surface, make sure you put some adhesive pads on the bottom.
Metal is in good condition, but a few spots are rusty. When the package was delivered, it had been destroyed. I was lucky not to have any other items fall out of the The attached images show the weight and the actual dimensions of each item.
There were stains on both sides of the bench block that appeared to be light rust-colored, but there was no rust because the bench block was inside a plastic bag with some machine oil. In the case of a 4, there is only one reason It is not clear whether this will cause any problems, so I am giving it a four-star review. With my 3M Polishing Paper and my 2M Glossy & Satin Acrylic, I worked on both sides Although the stain is still visible, the cleaning did a bit of work. The machine did not appear to have any obvious pits or scratches. I rubbed machine oil on all sides and polished all four corners. Then place it back into the However, I notice that both work surfaces are much more useful than the 2" bench block that I used before. It is not 100% perfect, but it is very close. It will be no problem for me to work on metal pieces for jewelry. BTW I just wanted to let you know This is described as being made in China in the write-up. In India, I purchased mine. Save your money by not going with an expensive model! In perfect condition, my steel bench arrived. A thin layer of oil coated the surface, making it So far, it has not marred or scratched any of my jewelry I have stamped. Metal stamping is easy with this stamp, as it's the right size and weight. I use an extra thick mouse pad under it to absorb the impact, so there is no need for an expensive rubber base. I even stored the item in the box it came in when it was unopened. The box may have been old, but the product was perfect!.
There was a tiny amount of oil included, as it should! I think everything about this block is perfect, but some people have commented that it is a little small (on measurements), which I personally do not care about on this item, as it is not designed to fit anything which requires precisely measured Now let's get to the reason I gave this a 5 star rating. 2. *br. It is smooth, scratched, dented, chipped, free of dent and chip*2. Corners that are 'sharp' at 90 degrees and The third item Although I haven't dented it with any objects yet, I'm sure it will if you misuse it or hit it with a sharp point of hardened steel. The goods were shipped fast, and with amazon prime (free two-day shipping), they arrived within the two days it was promised. Note that 5. This is exactly what I was looking for to make rings, banging out knives( starting with welding steel bands and working my way up to a soup can forge) and whatever else I need to make. I am confident it will be perfect for many times in the future.
